    I think that's bullshit.

They're getting hype because they're weird, talented as hell, and the music is off-the-wall.

Hipster or not, everyone recognizes that these guys have immense skill for being so young.

told my 14 year old cousin about Wolf Gang. Sent him links to Sandwitches, Yonkers, and American Wedding. Now in all of his status him and his friends are always saying "Wolf gang or die", "wolf gang swagga" (wtf?), and shit like that.

I agree you can probably find some underground stuff like this. I wouldn't say that is why they are popular though. They will remain known on the net, they won't blow mainstream wise though.

"Earl, wake the fuck up, you faggot!"

"HOW 'BOUT YOU SHUT THE FUCK UP, MOM!"

          Earl's CD bangs.

            2.) Earl | 4.5 - 5
            - Watch the video to this and see if you get squeamish.
            3.) Couch (ft. Tyler, The Creator) | 4.75 - 5
            4.) Kill | 4 - 4.5
            5.) Wakeupfaggot | 4
            6.) Luper | 4.25 - 5
            - The first verse on this show that Earl doesn't have to rap about the psycho killer shit.
            7.) epaR (ft. Vince Staples) | 4.75 - 5
            - Earl's "99 Problems" moment on verse three?
            8.) Moonlight (ft. Hodgy Beats) | 3 - 3.25
            9.) Pigions (ft. Tyler, The Creator) | 3 - 3.5
            10.) Stapleton | 3 - 3.25

            Overall: 4.08/5

            Brief Notes:
            - It's absolutely scary how much talent this kid has at 16. What's even scarier is that we don't know when the next time will be that we'll hear this talent. After hearing upon the album, Earl's mother sent him to boot camp (rumored, never confirmed) and he won't be able to make music with the rest of the Odd Future gang until he's 18. I'm sure he'll go back to building upon living up to his enormous potential, but then again, he might not with this roadblock.
            - The skits, especially the "Wakeupfaggot" one, are hilarious.

I'd go to that just to see Ted Leo. Adding Odd Future is an extra bonus

Changed a few ratings on Nostalgia, ULTRA.

                    1.) Street Fighter | 2.75 - 3
                    2.) Strawberry Swing | 4 - 4.5
                    - I can imagine this song playing during the ending scene of a Laguna Beach episode.
                    3.) Novacane | 4.75 - 5
                    4.) We All Try | 5
                    - Once you get to this song you'll be wondering, how the hell did Frank Ocean get into Odd Future?
                    5.) Bitches Talkin' | 4
                    6.) Songs For Women | 4.75 - 5
                    7.) Lovecrimes | 4 - 4.5
                    8.) Goldeneye | 2.75 - 3
                    9.) There Will Be Tears | 3.5 - 4
                    - Crazy Mr. Hudson sample.
                    10.) Swim Good | 4.75 - 5
                    11.) Dust | 3 - 3.5
                    12.) American Wedding | 5
                    - Wow.
                    13.) Soul Calibur | 3
                    14.) Nature Feels | 4.5 - 5

                    Overall: 4.13/5 [previous rating 3.89/5]

                    Brief Notes:
                    - I don't really have one word that I can describe how this album sounds, besides good. This came as a huge surprise because when I first heard of a R&B singer in the Odd Future gang, I expected the worst. However, his subject matter is nothing like his friends' music and instead is more like a typical R&B artist's. "Nature Feels" is probably the best song you could listen to if you want the psycho killer material, but even that is relatively calm.
                    - "American Wedding" is absolutely incredible and is an early song of the year candidate. It's hard enough singing over the instrumental of "Hotel California" but Ocean does it more than justice, singing about couples getting married too long and facing the eventual divorce that is all too common in our country. I think I've played the song front to back at least 15 times since I copped the album yesterday.

[Updated (3/5/2011): I honestly can't stop playing this CD. Easily the leader for 2011 AOTY right now in my mind.]

I'd be excited for Ted Leo if he was also playing with The Pharmacists. However, he might surprise.

I'm mostly just excited for Odd Future and Chk Chk Chk (!!!). I've already seen most of the other smaller bands here in LA, FYF Fest throws shows with them all the time.

Surfer Blood would be cool, but I'll probably have 8000 opportunities to see them that week.

EDIT: Looks like WOLF GANG will be at the FADER FORT as well this year. I guess I might see 'em twice then!

Well herp derp, Steve. Who doesn't? Tyler giving Goblin to XL leads me to believe they aren't necessarily going to sign with a rap-heavy label.

In all honesty, they should create an imprint for themselves under a major label. Keep more of the money that way.
