Another question. I re-watched last 15 mins of S4 finale before starting this season...when Tyrion catches Shay in bed with Tywin he's crushed for obvious reasons...but was Shay ever truly in love with Tyrion or was it all a ploy from the get go, the way Tywin played Tyrion when he was a teen and paid some chick to pretend to love him ?Comment

I felt like the book drove home the Shay betrayal better and more obviously. But yeah, I think we were supposed to buy Tyrion sending her away as her motive for screwing him over.
Dope: was it 100% confirmed that Bran wouldn't be in this season? I know that Hodor isn't, but I didn't think I had read that Bran wouldn't be too. I mean, it's unlikely to have one without the other, either way.
Bran is going to look 25 years old the next time he's on screen if he isn't in this season and at the rate that he is growing up.Comment

first link is David Benioff talking about why he's not in it
second link does say that hbo wouldn't comment or confirm it.
i think he doesn't show up at all, but if he does it'll be in episode 10 where he walks out of the cave and we don't get to see any training.
and yeah that kid grew up A LOT from the first season, going two years without seeing him is going to be crazy.
speaking of ages, this picture is hilarious

We're going to be out of town next week, so we went ahead and watched episode 4 last night following the end of episode 3. It's been a very good season so far, and fun to watch how it greatly diverges from the book (enjoy show watchers! The Tyrion conclusion of episode 3 took almost an entire tome of super boring shit to get to).
All of that being said, the conclusion to episode 4 was very weird. From a traditional show standpoint, I don't really get why they shot it the way they did. If you're curious about spoilers:
Are Barry the Bold and Greyworm dead? Barry gets straight up stabbed in what appears to be the chest, but what has me questioning it is why they would have the Harpy go for the throat slit only to have Greyworm stop it. I feel like not pulling the trigger with the throat slit in that manner indicates that Barry will still be alive. He's been very important to Dany's development, and they did introduce that Red Priestess...so maybe they'll bring him back to life like Dondarrion? Regardless of no throat slit, SOMETHING has to happen that is magical, because he was stabbed like 4 times.Comment

lol "if youre curious about spoilers" ...well geez I am now!!... but I wont click and ruin it for myself.
3rd of the way through the season and not much has happened but this was the least action heavy book no ?
I just keep saying its back to s1 Game of Talking but this time Im paying closer attention. Briennes reveal about Renley was cool , if I hadnt re-watched on BR recently it would have been the "ooooh I get it" moment about why she was so damn emotional when he died.Best reason to have a license.

That part is SO much better than the book. In the book, she's kind of just head-over-heels about Renly. Granted, the proclivities of Renly are much less obvious in the book, but it's still something that seemingly everyone but Brienne knows about, and IIRC Jaime even taunts her about it at some point and she's just oblivious/in denial.Comment

Well, I just meant if you don't want to just watch the version out there. It's not a book spoiler, it's an episode 4 spoiler. You too can see it if you're so inclined (or you could, if you weren't an HD snob!)!

Yeah I've heard the Renley thing is way more overt than in the book where it's more alluded to than anything else. I love Briennes character and storyline thus far.Best reason to have a license.
