Why Charlie Sheen Was Fired: Legal Letter Calls Him “Very Ill” - The Hollywood Reporter
Before announcing that Charlie Sheen was fired, Warner Bros Television sent a letter to the actors lawyer, explaining that he was being terminated because he committed a felony involving "moral turpitude," TMZ reports.
The 11-page letter states, "Your client has been engaged in dangerously self-destructive conduct and appears to be very ill, and lists Sheens recent antics, as well as disparaging remarks he has made against Men co-creator Chuck Lorre.
The letter states the studio also was so concerned about Sheen, 45, that "Warner Bros. had an airplane waiting" to take him to a treatment facility, but he refused.
The letter states Sheen derailed production when he went into rehab and then fired his sobriety coach.
A clause in Sheens contract claims Warner Bros can fire a performer who commits "a felony offense involving moral turpitude: "There is ample evidence supporting Warner Bros. reasonable good faith opinion that Mr. Sheen has committed felony offenses involving moral turpitude (including but not limited to furnishing of cocaine to others as part of the self-destructive lifestyle he has described publicly) that have 'interfere[d] with his ability to fully and completely render all material services required' under the agreement."
