Hereafter - So close to being really good, but after two hours, it fails to get that emotional attachment or "bring it home" so to speak to make it a worthwhile drama. You keep waiting for something to "happen" but nothing does. A shame, as the premise is really good and something we all can relate to in some way. It was seemingly a road to no where, the film, which, may have been the point *shrugs*

Tropa de Elite 2: O Inimigo Agora É Outro - Good film. As good or better than its predecessor. While the first focused on the the problems with police force in Rio, this one focuses on how the institutions and elected officials of Brazil have led to corruption. There is still a fair amount of action, but it is not as much of the focus of the film as it was previously.Comment

Scream - Brilliantly self aware/10
Scream 2 - tried too hard/10
Scream 3 - just plain dumb/10
Scream 4 - not impressed/10
Source Code - fucking genius; best movie of 2011 thus far/10
Your Highness - not as funny as I wanted it to be/10
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - Arguably the best movie of the 2000s/10
Cyrus - With John C Reilly and Jonah Hill, it should have been funnier but beyond that it was solid/10
The Strangers - lol @ Dennis Reynolds/10Comment

My problems with the Scream franchise -
It's the same god damn thing over and over again.
Scream - Dewey, Gail, Sidney and Randy live.
Scream 2 - Dewey, Gail, Sidney and Cotton live. Randy dies in the middle of the movie.
Scream 3 - Dewey, Gail, Sidney and Detective McDreamy live. Cotton dies in the opening.
Scream 4 - Dewey, Gail, Sidney and annoying Deputy live. Detective whoever is nowhere to be found.
Can we get some variety? I'm not saying kill them all, I'm not saying kill any of them, but in FOUR god damn movies none of the 3 main characters die, even when they are completely incompetent throughout?
Can we also stop killing ALL the likable characters (making them villains is fine, but can we get a cool character who survives?! - Stu, Randy, Mickey, Kirby, Charlie all die or become villains and happen to be the only characters I've ever actually liked.
With Scream 4 in particular - the ending just killed me (ha ha!). They should have let Jill get away with it. Her injuring herself in the house was extremely entertaining and I don't think in the way Wes Craven intended.Comment

I too was dumbfounded by all three surviving at the end. I thought it would have been better if they really did end it with Jill winning. Really would go against Hollywood norm and a big fuck you to the hero. The thing I loved so much about Scream 4 though is they pulled a Drew Barrymore. With Scream 4, I bet everyone, myself included, thought Jill would be the new Sydney and the older cast was passing on a torch for a new trilogy with these new teens, but instead Craven kills every single new character and completely pulls something out of his ass. It could have been better, but I feel its a shit ton better then any slasher flick that has made its way onto film in the last 10 years.Comment

I streamed Hobo with a Shotgun last week, it was excellent.
Delicatessen was also great.
Mystery Team was really funny in an immature way.
District B13 had sick action sequences.
Trick r' Treat was not great.
Last House on the Left (1972) was not very good either.
White Men Can't Jump - classic.
The Exam- stupid ending.
The Experiment - sucked.
Amos & Andrew - shit.
A Prophet - I underestimate the French's filmmaking abilities.
Robocop - fuck yeah.Comment

Kayfabe
A 2007 mockumentary indie (award winning) film which depicts a small indy pro wrestling group with an eclectic mix of workers preparing for the final shows of the promotion. It's funny and over the top but at the same time, appears to set the tone of what a legit indy locker room feels like.
Some of the characters include (the main one) a veteran who never made it to "the show" because of an injury (he's actually an indy worker whose main job was a lawyer when he helped develop the script and film with friends)....another is a veteran who made it to "the show" for a few months and thinks he's hot shit.....a hardcore wrestler who loves to bleed.....a foreigner who's having difficulty getting over with the crowds....a new guy trying to break into the business, etc.
Even if you're not a wrestling fan, they get the premise of the film over enough so you're not left in the dark.
