Without pulling out the thesaurus I basically agree with SOS said about Black Swan although not quite with the same level of praise. Regardless, I'll be very surprised if Portman doesn't win best actress.Comment

Terrible Movie. Unfunny, boring, terrible acting by a lot of people... I heard good things about it and the only good was Ryan Renolds and looking at Anna Faris and some other girl from Popular Mechanics for kids. Somehow it got a sequel... :/Comment

Thought this was a really funny documentary mocking religion. Although, it's blatantly biased and at times, I was frustrated at how interviews would be cut off after proving a point in favor of Maher. Overall, though, I'd give it a 7.5/10.Comment

Buried: 8.2/10 - It's one of the most fearless films in years and never tries to steer away from its direction. It's incredibly daring as it's filmed entirely in the coffin in which Paul is being kept in and is completely centered around him as a character. The film further defends its position of complications of finding one man held hostage and it makes the lack of urgency that much more horrifying. It's a unique, almost Hitchcockian-like thriller and some of the finest filmmaking due to the fact that it's confined to one location, which of course enforces the characters claustrophobic situation. It's a heart-pounding and heartbreaking film that features wonderful direction, but it's made what it is by Ryan Reynolds and his perfect depiction of desperation, a random man caught up in a terrible situation who is getting minimal help by those who truly can't understand his situation. The problem is...it's a really difficult watch. Really, really, really difficult. Beautiful, daring film with excellent acting and direction, but damn.
Winter's Bone: 9.1/10
It plays like a film reflecting on a different time period, one in which the community might be unified by location and activity, but stays out of others business and keeps their affairs to themselves, which will be a turn off to a much larger audience, but Winter’s Bone is a fine example of an overly mature and responsibly-overwhelmed girl who’s determined, but drastically in over her head. For a story that’s a far cry from the cinema today, the wild goose hunt-like plot is surprisingly well paced and shows the measures that one girl will take to keep a roof over her family’s head. The script is vague, perfectly reflecting the shadiness of the setting and the people who reside in it, the cinematography is gray, somber and dismal and the acting is so thoroughly ordinary that nothing seems staged, which is thanks in large part to a strong performance from newcomer Jennifer Lawrence. And, even though the tone is undeniably dark, a strong sense of family is obvious and not only pushes the main character forward, but also acts as the film’s most important theme.Comment

True Grit (2010 Remake) - ***1/2 Stars.
See it for Bridges, Damon and a cast that's well suited for the simple story of revenge via 14-year-old girl and the hot steel of a loaded revolver.Comment

Many scenes might be a little boring for anyone that has zero interest in financial markets, but the Gecko's and Shia's character are more than enough to see this movie. Excellent story line and furthers my gay love for Shia Labeouf.Comment
