not as good as I expected, a little too slow for me. Great climax and ending. I kinda guessed what would happen at the ending, but I still am not sure how to interpret it.

The Thing (2011) - The prequel to John Carpenter's 1982 classic isn't near as good. However, I did appreciate how they took everything from the few minutes spent at the burnt out Norwegian base in the '82 film and found a way to put a story that showed how that hole in the wall came to be (among other examples).

The Descendants

Good stuff, Clooney is great, Shailene Woodley was hot and the story was solid. Not the best of 2011, but up there.

Girl, Interrupted - What if One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was 40% worse in every way and had attractive female leads?

I like Winona Ryder for some reason and the film wasn't terrible, just not particularly good.


The House of the Devil - Decent homage but it danced the line between following the style of 80's slashers and doing so in a campy almost parody type of way like Drag Me to Hell did with older horror movies. Still it is one of the better horror movies I've seen from the past decade, even if that isn't saying much.
