Haven't seen Lars, yet. But you're right about Gosling being great in Half Nelson, that was an outstanding movie.

I thought this movie was great. I love Chris Nolan and his nonlinear storytelling techniques.

I just saw Mystic River. Very awesome performances, solid direction. 8/10

Clint Eastwood is a fantastic director. There aren't many of his movies that I haven't liked (very similar to Nolan in that regard).

Just finished The Last of the Mohicans. Good movie all around, but I love the ending. It's a great mixture of a good theme, emotion, and action.

I just watched Lions for Lambs. It was ok, a little to preachy for my liking, but some of it was pretty good.

Big Fan: 9.6/10 - Hurry up and go see it Jersey. Sugar's reign as what I believe to be the best sports movie of all-time certainly didn't last long. This is an awesome movie filled with its share of laughs (especially at the patheticness of the main character) And the ending is so epic...the way they were building up the feeling of the movie caused the ending to come out of nowhere. This is a must-see.

Cold Souls: 8.5/10 - If this wasn't also a "comedy" it would be a shitshow. The overall basis of the plot is so ridiculous, as is the second half of the movie, that you cannot help but laugh. Make no mistake, this IS a comedy; a dark comedy. Paul Giamatti supposedly plays himself (and he plays himself well, go figure?) and isn't acting to the best of his abilities...thus, he gets his soul removed. If that isn't strange enough for you, just wait for the rest. This is what I call a unique movie. I loved it.

Just watched The Wackness and I was impressed. But I'm a hopeless romantic who smokes weed and listens to hip-hop, so that would make sense. Very good feel to this movie though. Felt a lot like Adventureland which I also liked. 8/10

I thought this movie was whack. The kid from Drake and Josh was just a lame dude.

I saw Zombie (aka Zombi 2) last night. It's very similar to the original Dawn of the Dead in terms of gore/effects. Fairly enjoyable for a horror flick.

Where the Wild Things Are: 9.9/10 - About as flawless of a children's book to big screen movie you can make. What a bold, yet in the end excellent decision by Spike Jonze to reach out towards all audiences. He could have made it more for the kids with sissy dialogue, cheap laughs and happiness throughout, but instead he aims it at everyone. Everyone who has ever read to book, everyone who has ever felt neglected, everyone who has ever had to deal with the turmoils that arise during childhood. I love how he paralleled the Wild Things with Max. It really gave the story a nice touch and while the ending was tweaked (and he obviously was going to tweak it) I think it works out for the better. I gotta admit I got choked up near the end so I can go ahead and add this to my list of "man cry" movies. Anyways, hats off to Jonze...he really hit a home run with this one. Beautiful, touching, imaginative, and in the sense of children emotions (feeling neglected, isolation, sadness, fear, togetherness, anger, etc.) realistic. Oh, and the kid who played Max...watch out for him in the future...I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of him.
