Two New J.J. Abrams' Series Given the OK

    From AintItCool...

FOX has decided to take "Alcatraz" to series although it may not debut until next year. Abrams is the creator and one of the stars will be Jorge Garcia, Sarah Jones is the lead. It's about the FBI trying to track down guards and inmates who went missing decades ago and appeared in the present day.

Meanwhile, CBS has greenly another new Abrams' series, this one written by Jonathan Nolan. It's about a wealthy scientist who hires a former CIA assassin to get rid of "troublemakers."

Michael Emerson is part of the project and one of the leads will be Jim Caviezel.

Not sold on either idea since both networks have the attention span of a gnat and seemingly cancel everything quicker than later if they're not doing amazing numbers.

Is Abrams recent stuff based strictly on his name and not actual quality?

LOST was one of the greatest shows of all time. Alcatraz sounds good but I won't even look at the other show mentioned.

I'll check out both. He originally was going to do a sitcom that starred both Michael Emerson (Linus from LOST) and Terry O'Quinn (Locke from LOST). Don't know what it was about though. Either way he squashed that idea to put Emerson on this new show and is looking to do something with O'Quinn

Both seem like great shows, Jonah Nolan is a great writer, but this is his first tv show, and working on his first movie without his brother should be interesting, it is Spielberg though.

An Alcatraz tv show would be really cool, probably be a supernatural type show

              Would have been awesome.

O'Quinn went on another project but it may not go to series so he could be available to do something on either of these.

The Alcatraz show sounds interesting. My brother jerks off to JJ Abrams so I'm sure all these seasons on DVD will be in my house somewhere in a couple years.

Pretty sure that show was about 2 ex CIA Agents or something. Also, it says it was picked up, but had to be postponed because Emerson joined the other show, the prison one

Fox has finally released photos, a long-form plot synopsis and a trailer for the upcoming JJ Abrams-produced Elizabeth Sarnoff-written (Lost, Deadwood) television series Alcatraz. The "chilling new thriller centers on America’s most infamous prison and one-time home to the nation’s most notorious murderers, rapists, kidnappers and thieves." Find out what the show is about, see…
