End of an Era - Len B's Top 25 Rap Albums

Had two of these lists on Maddenmania back in the day, enjoyed doing them so I wanted to do this one last time.

Sadly, my life of listening to rap is slowly coming to an end. Growing up on legends such as Ja Rule, then moving onto conscious rap, I've listened to rap/hip hop from the age of 11 to 24.

Now, I realize I don't listen to it anymore and have no desire to listen to it, with indie rock taking up most of my music time. That said, I need an excuse to go back through my rap library and listen to some stuff, and this is a good way for me to do it. Making my greatest albums list for heels' thing, I noticed not many will be rap. Sad days.

Going to post my favorite 25 rap albums of all-time (basically just for Woy's pleasure) in here. They won't be critically acclaimed, some will be head scratchers, but they always have a spot in my library.

Well it's not exactly the "Len's Rap Song of the Day" thread I've been asking you to update for 2 years, but I'll take it

Prediction: EMC's The Show and at least one Masta Ace album is in the Top 25.

One of these two is true. Other predictions welcome.

EDIT: Trimming the list of 45 albums down to 25.. will post # 25 tonight.

            I predict I won't recognize a single album.

OK, so I lied. I have 30 albums on my list right now and don't want to trim any more fat. So here we go....

                #30 - Blu & Exile / Below the Heavens (2007)

Blu is one of the few new age rappers that I can listen to it seems, and he and Emanon producer Exile kick off the list at #30 with Below the Heavens. Songs like 'So(ul) Amazin' and 'My World Is...' and 'Blu Collar Worker' lead the way. Perfect new age blend of production and a solid MC.

Looking forward to this, you've definitely uncovered some gems for me in the past.

Not sure if I'll have any more gems for you if you've followed the first two. Just about all these albums should be common knowledge to you and other avid rap fans.

The first half of Below the Heavens is incredible, but the second half is really blah IMO.

Much thanks. I've been a hip hop head probably since before most here were even born. Still, Len introduced me to Blu when he did this on MM.

After Dancing in the Rain it does get a little "meh".. but the first half is just incredible, and Simply Amazin'/The World Is are enough to carry the back end enough.
