It's pretty clear she is luring Jaime to his death when she reunites with him, right?

Definitely was the impression that I got. If he (Martin) kills off Jaime I'm going to be pissed. I think he might be my favorite character at this point, or at least in the running. Crows was a great Jaime book...I was disappointed that there was so little of him in Dragons.

My issue with Dragons is similar to yours: I don't feel like it really progressed anything all that much. Crows is hated for that reason, but I think it's more because the characters people wanted to hear about after Swords weren't there for the most part. A TON of shit happened in Crows, and my issue with Dragons is that even after "the streams connected" or whatever weirdo fat fantasy writer way Martin explained the rational behind the book, it felt like nothing went anywhere. The last 2 books are either going to be like 5000 pages a piece, or book 6 is going to just be wrapping up most loose ends because it feels like the overall narrative at SOME point has to be the battle between the Red Priests and the Ice People (not about to try to spell the one God's name).

Am I the only one that thinks that?

I think Crows and Dragons advanced the story about equally, which, for most, wasn't enough. Crows introduced a bunch of characters that were only referenced previously and left out some fan faves from earlier books. Dragons brought them back, but the stories only got rolling in the last few chapters (Dany riding off with Drogon, The Iron Islanders prepping for attach, Connington and Aegon prepping to attach, the shit going on in the North) just whet peeps appetite for what should've been in this book. Martin know's how to build suspense.

I saw somewhere that Martin says much of what was led up to in ADWD will be cleared up early in the next book. I'm thinking these last 2 books are gonna be Encyclopedi Brittanica long.

Do you think he wonders to himself as he is writing those, "Hmmm what will it be this time? Should I go with the 'vagina as a swamp' metaphor, or the 'vagina as a marshland'?"

With how often the dewy-ness of the female sex organ is mentioned, I would imagine he has some sort of flow chart set up. "If the following character is a female from the Iron Islands her vagina will be soaked like the beaches in high tide."

My girlfriend has a theory that all words with double consonants are creepy. The word sopping does not disprove this theory. Especially when a bridge troll like GRRM uses it.

                  As far as Jon goes

I don't think he'll warg into anyones body. Probably be like when Beric Dondarrion was resurrected by Thoros. Melisandre is a red priestess.

Also interesting is the belief that Aegon is the mummer's dragon, or a false Targaryen. It makes a lot of sense to me considering he was introduced so late in the book.

Do we know for a fact that there is without question a mummer's dragon out there, and we just don't know who it is? Was this prophesized or something? I have seen a few people on the internet theorize that Aegon is "the" mummer's dragon, but I don't remember how or where that term was first brought up. What reason other than general skepticism do readers have? I can see why the Lannister and Tyrells would want to discount his claim, but just wondering if there is something I missed that points to there being a false Targ out there...

There was prophecy in one of the books that mentioned it.

No. Hear me, Daenerys Targaryen. The glass candles are burning.
Soon comes the pale mare, and after her the others. Kraken and dark flame, lion and griffin, the sun’s son and the mummer’s dragon. Trust none of them. Remember the Undying. Beware the perfumed seneschal."

i am almost done with the first book and it has been kind of boring since the show follows the book fairly well. should i skip the second book and start on the third or do you think it would be better to get all the details missed in the show's second season?

Read the second book. There were some changes made on the show that are different than the book. Plus without reading book 2, there will be things missing for you in 3.

I find it interesting that Martin always mentions how quick the guys are to bust 1. It must be something personal to him :ohwell:

I'm about 30% of the way through "A Feast For Crows" but it's been really slow going for me. I FLEW through "A Storm Of Kings" in two weeks but I've been working on "Feast..." for about a month now.
