      Seinfeld.

Best cast in a comedy ever ..period.
All 3 men were absolutely brilliant and "iconic". Theres not many women who could have pulled off what Dreyfus did ,she got better as seasons went on.

Singularly Larry David is amazing and with hour long eps and no censors he could go nuts. But Seinfelds impact is beyond comparison. Curb cant even begin to touch even the secondary characters Seinfeld made routine.
      Estelle and Frank Costanza
      Soup Nazi
      Putty
      Jackie Stiles
      Banya
      Converted Jew dentist etc

What awkward life situation cant you at some point reference to Seinfeld.
The contest , Yadda Yadda, shrinkage , real or fake , chinese restaraunt etc.

I loooove Curb. But the supporting cast and guests just pale in comparison.
As actors however theyre every bit as brilliant knowing theyre essentially improving 90% of it.

Throw as many names as you want out there. Unless you say Honeymooners or Cosby theres no case of being better than Seinfeld. Even the Honeymooners is only mentioned because of the Don Hutson equation not because it was actually better.
Best reason to have a license.

There's no doubt Seinfeld is probably the best sitcom/TV show of all-time.

As for which I like better...it's a toss-up. I will say, I can watch any episode of Seinfeld practically any day and not get sick of it. With Curb, the show does hold up with repeated viewings, but it's not quite at that Seinfeld level.

Curb. Seinfeld would have been better had it had the freedoms of HBO, but it didn't.

          Both awesome, though.

I only started watching Curb recently so I really can't compare it to a show that I am currently watching every episode of on DVD (up to season 4 right now) and have been watching random episodes of since I was 4 years old (my dad is a HUGE fan). Seinfeld is easily the greatest sitcom of all-time to me. Curb is hilarious but when I get around to watching all the seasons I doubt I'm going to like it better than Seinfeld.

Curb can be very hit or miss for me. Its usually good, but sometimes Larry can just get annoying.

                Gotta be Seinfeld.

Not to single you out, because you aren't the first, but as I said in the initial post AD is not in this discussion because as amazing as it is, it was a bomb of a show.

Also I wouldn't really compare it to these shows anyway because it's less of a sitcom and utilizes its continuity for its funniness. It's just a different beast IMO.

My wife and I were just talking about that last night as we were watching it

I told her the only way they could have done that as successfully as they did is to write the show in reverse.

It is SUCH a shame that there are only 53 episodes of this show. It was pure genius!

The things that made Arrested Development so great were also the same reasons why it failed. The show sucked if you just watched random episodes here and there. They had to be watched in order, which is a problem in the sitcom genre.

fuck this is a tough one. being on HBO curb has the ability to be more authentic. But Seinfeld was so well written and had so many things going on at one time between all 4 characters.

towards the end Seinfeld wasnt as good. Curb wasnt as good season 5-7 and really lost points by not taking advantage of how great the Seinfeld reunion could have been.

Season 8 seems to be better, but i have only watched 3 shows (all were good) but havnt had any interest since then.

                            I will vote Seinfeld

Seinfeld and Curb are Jim Brown and Walter Payton.

AD is Bo Jackson. No idea why people always mention it. Perhaps it was the fact I caught episodes randomly as I thought the individuals in the cast were funny elsewhere but it was more of a Ben Gay ,Lawrence Phillips show.

If success is the important criteria then why are we discussing this is at all? Seinfeld easily bests Curb. However, in my opinion Curb is the better show, even though it's not as successful. (Which isn't to say it's not successful, it's just not Seinfeld successful.)
Well it's obviously not just about success, but AD was such a resounding failure I just don't think that it can be included at all. Plus, the main crux of it was Larry David's shows stacked up against each other. And as MVP put it, AD's greatness was its greatest failure. That show was made for DVD. I don't know any people that actually watched it on TV, and I can understand why. For 1 it was on crazy weird times, and for 2, anyone would forget crucial plot points which for that show meant missing hilarious jokes.

I'm a little surprised so many people are saying Curb. I love Curb, but Seinfeld is like comfort food at his point. I get home from work at 7 and I watch 2 episodes of Seinfeld that I've seen 1,000 times, and I still laugh and enjoy them. Not to say that I won't be like that with Curb in 10 years, but I doubt that I will, personally.
