    It could be alot worse

Back in July 2010, tokyohive mentioned rumor that Watsuki Nobuhiro’s popular manga, “Rurouni Kenshin -Meiji Kenkaku Romantan-” would get a movie adaptation, and that Sato Takeru would be playing the main character, ‘Himura Kenshin’. As it turns out, it wasn’t a rumor after all!

On June 28th, it was confirmed that a live-action movie of ‘Rurouni Kenshin’ will be released in 2012, and it will indeed star Sato Takeru. Otomo Keishi (the chief director of “Ryomaden“) will direct the movie, and the production company will be Warner Brothers.

“Rurouni Kenshin” was serialized through “Weekly Shonen Jump” during 1994 ~ 1999, and it was translated in 23 countries all over the world. It tells the story of Himura Kenshin, who was known and feared as the assassin “Hitokiri Battousai”; he starts a personal journey as a wanderer after the Meiji Restoration, pledging that he would do “no more killing“. The manga follows Kenshin as he tries to adjust to a new era, making encounters with many people and fighting his old enemies. Its highly-popular anime series was aired during 1996 ~ 1999.

Sato, who is currently practicing for a sword battle, commented, “The role of Kenshin is that of a well-known character, therefore, I think fascinating acting is needed. I would like to create the Kenshin image with the staff, while staying true to the details. I will try my best, so please look forward to it.”

The author of Rurouni Kenshin commented on Sato’s casting for the role: “When this project just started, my wife and I were talking about who would suit the role of Kenshin, and Sato Takeru-san was the one who came up on our mind first. So, when it was confirmed (that Sato will be taking the role), I was surprised, but was also very happy. I’m looking forward to see his wonderful acting.”

Other cast members for the movie will be revealed later, and the film is scheduled to hit theatres in 2012.

As it said the person who's set to direct this also did a successful series called “Ryomaden" based on real life people. So he may be good at this adaptation. Typically these things look like fails from the start, but who knows. This one may be alright.

But yeah. Found out about this staying up all night looking up shows I watched on Cartoon Network.

Took one second to wikipedia Cowboy bebop and...

On July 22, 2008, IF Magazine published an article on its website regarding a rumor of a live-action Cowboy Bebop movie in development by 20th Century Fox. Producer Erwin Stoff said that the film's development was in the early stages, and that they had "just signed it".[20][21] Keanu Reeves has been confirmed as playing the role of Spike Spiegel.[22][23] Variety confirmed on January 15, 2009, that the production company Sunrise Animation will be "closely involved with the development of the English language project." The site also confirmed Kenji Uchida, Shinichiro Watanabe, and series writer Keiko Nobumoto as associate producers, series producer Masahiko Minami as a production consultant, and Peter Craig as screenwriter.[24] It was originally slated for release in 2011, but problems with the budget have delayed its production. The script that was submitted was sent back for rewrite to reduce the cost and little has been heard about it since an interview with producer Joshua Long on October 15, 2010

And another one second search killed my dreams

You were rooting for a Cowboy Bebop adaptation o_0?

The reason I am a little optimistic about Rurouni Kenshin is because it has to be done with Asian actors. Don't have to worry about them americanizing it. I know if they do Cowboy Bebop it'd be made for a western audience. I'd rather them not do it, especially if Keanu Reeves is gonna be Spike lol. He shouldn't be acting at all, let alone having a lead role.
