EXCLUSIVE: In one of the biggest drama deals this season, after a bidding war, Fox has landed Gotham, from Warner Bros. TV and The Mentalist creator Bruno Heller, with a series commitment. For Gotham, Warner Bros TV is mining one of DC Comics‘ most popular character universes, Batman. It explores the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the villains who made Gotham City famous. In Gotham, Gordon is still a detective with the Gotham City Police Department and has yet to meet Batman, who will not be part of the series. The Gordon character was introduced in 1939 in the very first Batman comic. Created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, Commissioner Gordon has appeared in comic books as well as Batman films and series, including in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, where he was played by Gary Oldman. Along with the Superman franchise, the Batman universe is probably the most prized DC property.
While Superman spawned the long-running series Smallville, this is the first series featuring a character from the world of Batman in a very long time as WBTV had been exploring a Gotham City-set show for more than a year. It is the second high-profile WBTV/DC drama in the works for next season, along with Flash at the CW. In addition to Gotham, WME-repped Heller has the Mars drama Red at the CW. Gotham joins CBS’ sci-fi drama Extant as the two hottest drama projects this season, both sparking bidding wars and landing a series commitment and series order, respectively.Comment

There was uproar when Ben Affleck was cast as the new Batman, but he’s taking the role and running with it — and wants pal Larry David to make an appearance in the movie also, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.
According to an insider, the Brentwood, Calif. neighbors have been talking about the idea of David playing the role of Superman’s enemy, Mr. Myxlplyx, in the Man of Steel sequel that features both Batman and Superman.
“The pair chatted about the idea with earnest abandon throughout the course of Emmy weekend. Larry has long been courted by the big budget superhero industrial complex, being linked to roles in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man sequels nearly a decade ago,” the insider revealed.
“But Ben is somebody he trusts and enjoys spending time with and this could be the right situation for Larry to finally appear in a huge-grossing hit film. Fun speculation that it could be for the famed Superman enemy role of Mr. Myxlplyx could make this piece more exciting, since Larry is a dead ringer for the character.”
And the insider thinks Affleck might have the pull it takes to get David in the movie.
“Ben and his personality are taking over this whole production — he could come out of this with a producer credit,” the source said.
David, 66, is an actor, writer, comedian and television producer best known for being the head writer and executive producer of Seinfeld. He also created the HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm.Comment

I'm sorry... but seriously... Mr Myxlplyx has really no place in a Batman movie after all the movies we just saw unless he is completely redone to be something else. Could you imagine Batman trying to get him to say his name backwards.Comment

Well being connected to the Superman universe they have opened the door for less reality based villains.Comment

I don't care about less reality based villains. Batman against someone like Darkseid, Lex Luthor flying around in an armored suit, whatever, I'm ok with that. Mr. Myxlplyx is a fucking joke. There is no way he should be in any new form of the Superman movies. If he does, I cannot wait to see the Wonder Twins in the new Justice League movie.Comment

I have no idea who this Mr myx character is. The article only speculates that he could be the roll that David is up for.Comment

Mr Mxyltpx is an imp from the 5th dimension who is a trickster who makes life difficult for Superman and Batman. If you trick him into saying his name backwards he gets banished to the 5th dimension for 90 daysComment
