You have to assume that Affleck will be directing the solo Bat films and possibly even Justice League. This story is surprising because it was reported that Affleck turned down the Justice League job last year.

Regardless of who they got to play Batman this project is going to suck ass. DC needs to find someone who actually cares about these characters and let them manage this shit. I mean you can tell whoever is running the train has no idea on what they are doing when they cast Ryan Reynolds to play Green Lantern.

Green Lantern was one of the rare comic book movies I sat down and watched, because I wanted to see if it could meet the hype of how awful it was said to be. Ryan Reynolds was pretty far down the list of issues with that movie, imo. Boring villain, terrible script (which Reynolds a least was able to save to some extent with his dialogue), lame love interest, awful special effects...nothing about that movie was good, Reynolds was inoffensive.

I don't pay too much attention to this stuff, so yeah, I would HOPE knowing that, that this would just be the preliminary "Affleck to direct and star in new Batman film". If that's the case? 100% on board.

It's the logical next step, this isn't a one movie gig for Affleck, he's signed on for three films at least.

Snyder could turn in a shitdick film worse then Man of Steel and it would still gross over a billion. Snyder and Goyer will be around for a while (with WB's DC films), time to hope for the best and hope Affleck or whoever directs the solo bat films has the freedom to do what they want.

But the money a movie makes is one thing: Affleck spent YEARS getting over this stigma of shlock, and while he has been great on the other side, it hasn't been long enough for him to attach himself to another stinker IMO. And I just can not imagine a movie where he is Batman and Cavill is Superman and taking either of them seriously at any point.

With the Batman and Superman brand attached, so could a first time no name director. Yet alone any decent one in hollywood.
