David Goyer is leaving the Flashforward due to other feature film (Batman 3) projects:

FlashForward" is getting another new showrunner.

Co-creator David Goyer is stepping down from his role running the series, sources confirmed.

The "Dark Knight" scribe will still be "involved" with the show, but will focus on feature films and directing.

"As my feature projects have started ramping up again, I felt I was being pulled in too many directions," said Goyer in a statement. "I'm proud of the show and excited about the relaunch. It's in great hands."

Goyer had limited hands-on TV series experience, so "Eli Stone" co-creator Mark Guggenheim was brought as showrunner in after his "FlashForward" pilot received a pickup to help with the launch of the mystery drama based on Robert Sawyer's novel.

After the show creative struggled out of the gate, Guggenheim stepped down as showrunner in October and was replaced by Goyer.

Who will serve as the new showrunner for "FlashForward" is not yet clear. The production is currently shooting episodes 17 and 18 of a 23-hour order.

FlashForward, ABC's heir apparent to Lost which just began its final season, is in turmoil again. It was already on its 2nd showrunner after Marc Guggenheim exited in October. Since then, I've been receiving reports of a lot of "infighting" and "backbiting" inside the show. Now FlashForward showrunner David Goyer has left with 5 episodes still to shoot. Of course, Goyer's feature career is really heating up, since he co-wrote Batman Begins, and penned the story for The Dark Knight, and is now writing the third Batman installment with Chris Nolan's brother Jonah. It's in great hands.") But whose hands? No word on the ID of FlashForward's 3rd showrunner. After its well-hyped fall debut, ABC first planned to bring back FlashForward last month, and then delayed the re-rollout until March 18th to retool. Something drastic needed to be done because ratings for the sci-fi drama based on the novel by Robert Sawyer were hot out of the gate -- and then they were not. FlashForward dropped from 12+ million viewers down to half that. The bright spot is that DVR usage for the show is big. ABC says Goyer will remain "involved" as the remaining episodes of the 23-episode order are finished. But, after spending big on development last season and giving ABC a hit Wednesday comedy night, entertainment boss Steve McPherson now really needs to have a breakout hour-long drama to boast about. The question still remains whether that's FlashForward.

re-writes = he wrote it? The basic plot of the movie was what the problem was, part of the script he had nothing to do with. It was filled with plot holes. Besides, look at the terrible shit David S. Goyer has been a part of and he was a part of that creative team. Everything goes through Christopher Nolan anyways.

UK, February 16, 2010 - Some fresh Batman 3 rumours have hit the Net today, with a scooper – apparently from Warner Bros. – giving Comic Book Movies the lowdown on the plot for Christopher Nolan's sequel.

First up, we have to reiterate that – as with so much The Dark Knight sequel gossip we've heard in the last couple of years – this is unverified by the studio and thus should be taken with a pinch of salt.

The source claims that, with screenwriting beginning this month, the plot is already in place. We heard last week that David Goyer and Jonah Nolan might have already actually finished a first draft.

Furthermore, they claim that the villain of the piece is The Riddler and that Arkham Asylum will feature heavily in the story. Apparently several other classic Bat-villains will cameo – including The Penguin and Mr. Freeze (although only in his Dr. Fries incarnation).

According to the source, Barbara Gordon's role will be beefed up and Dick Grayson may also make an appearance, though probably not as Robin.

Finally and potentially most excitingly, Commissioner Gordon could name-check the Superman universe in the film, with Metropolis and Lex Luthor getting a mention. You'll remember that only last week TDK director Christopher Nolan was hired by WB to "godfather" new Superman films.

So there you go; some pretty juicy Bat-gossip, but we stress again that it should be treated as mere conjecture at this stage. Nonetheless, do you guys reckon any of the above ideas should make it into the finished script for Batman 3?
