            I've never really liked My Girl, I'll take Papa Was a Rolling Stone over it any day.

            Was "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" anywhere close to your top 5?

                There's too many good songs over the last 40-50 years for a top 5 to even exist

                  I thought you mean R&B... Like H-Town R&B, R. Kelly R&B.....

                  I dont see nothing wrong, wit a lil bump and grind type R&B....

                  But you meant the old and real r&b.....

                      The "R&B" stuff that's played today isn't actually Rhythm and Blues, so I'm not sure how it gets classified as that.

                        IMO, the industry labels music by black artists as r&b, even when it's not. The so-called 'music' sounds like pop to me.

                          I think these are better than some up there:

                          [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LT6kjQhVJ9Y"]The Temptations just my imagination - YouTube[/ame]

                          [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbzkwLWK-Ps"]Cause I Love You - Lenny Williams - YouTube[/ame]

                          [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVANQheoRUw"]Curtis Mayfield - Diamond in the Back - YouTube[/ame]

                          [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdbEpe38amc"]Marvin Gaye- What's Going On - YouTube[/ame]

                          [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pHhItkhc7o"]Gladys Knight - Midnight Train To Georgia - YouTube[/ame]

                          You could argue these as other sub-genres, I guess... Definitely love Tracks of my tears. Is 80s Michael Jackson too pop for this thread?

                            I debated between calling these "soul" songs but I'm not quite sure where the distinction is made. And for the record, I love all the artists and songs you guys are throwing out. Really there is no top 5.
