Prince world (we're all just visiting) Prince appreciation thread

Ok jeff you asked and you shall receive.

So let me start this with expressing my love for Gold Experience, while many will dismiss his artist formally known as period, I gotta say this album is one of my favorites, Prince doing what I love the most and that's flowing from genre to genre with ease.

    P Control
    Endorphinemachine
    We March
The Most Beautiful Girl in the World
    Billy Jack Bitch
    I Hate U

I could have lead this with my love for Dirty Mind, Diamonds and Pearls, or Love Symbol albums, but that would've been too easy.

All 7 and we'll watch them fall
They stand in the way of love and we will smoke them all
With an intellect and a savoir-faire
No one in the whole universe will ever compare
    I am yours now and
    You are mine and
    together we'll love through all
Space and time so don't cry
ONE DAY ALL 7 WILL DIE

Ok soon as I get home its YouTube clip time, lots of shit I want to post.

Before I do, I want to hear some thoughts on his movies Under the cherry moon and grafitti bridge.

Neither movies is close to purple rain, but what redeeming qualities do these two movies have, if any.

Also if Houston is serious purple rain or 1999 would have to be the place for someone to start.

I've had some of his songs on my ipod for years but I've never bothered to really get into his albums. Been meaning to do so for awhile but always end up distracted by other artist.

I've seen Prince in concert three times - the Purple Rain concert in March 1985 at the Nassau Coliseum, and the Lovesexy concert in 1988/89 at Madisin Square Garden and later at the Coliseum. Nobody does it like Prince live.

I like "Under the Cherry Moon", both the movie and soundtrack. Prince and Jerome make an interesting comedy team. Its not a masterpiece, mind you, but good dumb fun with some amazing music.

"Graffiti Bridge" was pure and utter shit. It took "Purple Rain" and crapped all over it. Not too mentioned it took the entire city of Minneapolis and compressed it to a one block studio that eerily resembled the set for Tim Burton's "Batman." I'm not even fond of most of the music. I love Prince but I hate "GB".

Yeah while watching Under the Cherry Moon I got the sense that people just flat didn't get it and was looking for Purple Rain and got something off the wall. But it had its moments and was entertaining.

I was not blown away with the Album Graffiti Bridge, then I watched the movie and had a whole new appreciation to what horrible is, that movie was a total waste of time.

I got Purple Rain on Blu Ray, been wanting a friend of mine to watch it so I haven't gotten a chance to watch the Blu Ray yet, but it was a case where the album is so good that he would have been almost impossible to screw up the movie.
