I've never seen it but I'm going to say right now that this movie is overrated too. People go ballistic when I tell them I haven't watched it. There's no way it's that fucking good, and I highly doubt it's better than Fast Times.

It seems like everyone I've talked to around my age group thinks Super Troopers is some sort of comedic classic. The movie is shit.

Kind of, the people that like that movie, fucking LOVE that movie. They think its one of the most symbolic movies ever made, but only like 50% of the people that actually watch it enjoy it. I just wanted to hear your opinion if you had seen it. I originally gave it a 7, but the more I think about that movie since I saw it, the more I fucking hate it. Such a waste of time.Comment

I completely disagree. I found Horrible Bosses way funnier than Bridesmaids. I even enjoyed Hall Pass a little more. And I still have Bad Teacher, 50/50, Crazy Stupid Love, and The Sitter to see. And Friends With Benefits. Then we still got Harold & Kumar
Melissa McCarthy is the one who makes Bridesmaids an above average comedy for me, take her out of it and it really wasn't that funny.Comment

but seriously Bridesmaids = overrated, online atleast. Everyone else I talk to except for on this board and another one didn't think it was that funny. I'd give it like a 5.5 out of 10.
But as you said this year really is a weak year for comedies. Other than Horrible Bosses there is one that I thought was funny enough for me to buy. Well I'll probably buy Hangover II but thats because my love for Zach G (NC State represent!). Also as I said I still have movies to see, I have high expectations for 50/50 & Crazy Stupid Love. I thought The Sitter trailer looked solid surprisingly."It's the revenge of the dicks that's nine cocks that cock nines"Comment

Non Clooney Division:
Forrest Gump - I was rooting against the tard by the end, even though Jenny is the biggest cunt in movie history.
Animal House - I swear, the first time I watched this I was confused because I thought it was supposed to be a comedy. Where are the jokes? Perfect example of comedy evolving and not aging well over time.
I can understand putting Gump into the overrated thread, because the running scenes made the movie unnecessarily long ... but it was still a very entertaining movie. My Twitch video link: http://www.twitch.tv/dave374000

The entire airplane scene was brilliant, the dress fitting was hilariously grotesque, the puppy stealing was awesome and the shit during the credits had me in tears. I just don't see how it was any different from The Hangover, but with women.Comment

It's late. So off the top of my head without too much thought before I go to bed I'll say...
Fight Club
2001: A Space Odyssey
Taken
Avatar
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
Every Rocky movie except the first
...more another timeComment

Different strokes for different folks, I guess. The only people I know personally that didn't like Bridesmaids are the kind of people that are uncomfortable with women acting out and, you know, being funny.

I don't have any problem with women acting out or anything like that. Just didn't find it as funny as everyone else. I agree the airplane scene and puppy stealing were hilarious. The outfitting was somewhat funny. As I said I think the movie was carried by Melissa McCarthy for the most part. That is really only like three scenes in the whole movie though. Also add in I've never been a big Kristen Wiig fan either.
The Hangover was just more constantly funny to me, almost every scene had a quote or incident that was funny, especially the first time seeing it. I and the groups of people I went with to see it (went twice with to different groups) were all crying at some point in the movie from laughing so hard. Zach Galifianakis obviously carried that movie a lot sorta like M.M. with Bridesmaids, but I liked the group the movie centered around way more in Hangover than Bridesmaids. Also there was no scene that made me want to fast forward/slip it like the scene in Bridesmaids when Kristen Wiig and Rose Byrne trying to continuously one up each other in the toast. I found that scene highly annoying for some reason.
Maybe I'll like Bridesmaids the more I see it (that has happened with some movies with me like Superbad), but I don't expect to.
As you said different strokes for different folks. Oh and to make it clear I never said I didn't like Bridesmaids, I said I did. I just think it was highly overrated. I don't find it hilarious, I guess I would say I find it sorta funny. Im in the group with people in this thread who don't think the movie they post is an actual bad movie, just it is overrated."It's the revenge of the dicks that's nine cocks that cock nines"Comment
