When he's on I think Eminem is honestly the best.
So, metaphorically speaking, our physiology basically has the universe mapped out and you're thinking it needs to be taught addition & subtraction.

He got kicked out of the conversation after releasing Encore, Relapse, and Recovery.

It should be mentioned though that Eminem from about 1999 to 2003 had the greatest run of any rapper in terms of both success and quality of work (combined).

Yeah, that can't be ignored in the slightest. However, it seems like his skills have deteriorated over the years along with the obvious drop in album quality.

He used to come to my mind right away during this debate...not anymore.

Paid in Full is far more influential then any ATCQ album.

Diivox with the predictable fail. Any rapper would agree Rakim is the "most influential to the art form."

Do you think this will ever change, and other rappers come in while those two are knocked out?

If so, who do you think has the best shot at claiming the title? And how long do you think it'll take?

I know it's useless recognition, but I'm interested in knowing if and when it'll ever change.
No those titles will never change. Nor should they. As much as I love Andre, he is not, and more than likely will not get mentioned as the best ever.

Kanye, is a very good musician, with one of the most creative just fucked minds ever, but best rapper ever is not a title for him.

Ems first three albums gave him a very nice start, but every album since, and his producing skills just fucked him.

                      So no...

okay, but midnight marauders or low end theory (whichever your flavor) are still more important than anything biggie did.

                            Its Jay-Z and everyone else.

His body of work is insane and pisses on everyone else. Rakim ,Biggie can still be no.1 based on "peak" work. But at some point longevity comes into play and Jay Z has peak work , longevity , presence , impact etc. Noone touches his resume.

I stopped giving a shit about rap a decade ago and Jay -Z is still swooning people and Eminem is still crying about his lifes aches.
Best reason to have a license.
