Toro Y Moi - Underneath the Pine



Toro Y Moi "New Beat" by Carpark Records

If it was February then this album is in the top 5. Sadly plenty of better albums have come out this year. But like I have said earlier I love some good dance music and this is has a disco-ish feel to the album. Tracks like New Beat and Still Sound are standouts on the album(as well as the singles), with New Beat being the best song on the album. The album is very beat heavy and not as chillwave as other Toro Y Moi works. I personally love the vocals on this which have been criticized by many reviewers. But I have never been a stickler for correct pitches. But like I said earlier in the year I was really feeling this album but now it is starting to lose it's luster as time passes. Still great and needed to be included on this list.

These guys don't get much love on the interwebs. They are still raw for the indie crowd but I love it. Cute little love/teen/acoustic album that deserves a listen. I MEAN LISTEN TO THAT BANJO ON HAPPY BANJO. Listen to Lullaby tho. The teenage angst gets me every time.

There's no way it's Sideline Story...just a joke between Irish and I cause I know like a lot of the site, he doesn't enjoy J. Cole.

Best bets for 16 would be R4 or Section.80.

If there's 4-5 hip-hop albums on this list why the fuck would Section 80 be the one lowest rating? And wtf is R4?

And for the record, Cole World isn't even in my top 5 this year. Was a major disappointment.
