Yeah Effron is a no go. You could go with Paul Rudd I suppose. If you wanted to take it a more dramatic route, my suggestions were James McAvoy and Emily Blunt. Clearly the romantic comedy angle wouldn't work, but you make it a mainstream movie that acts like its an indie movie.

Your ending would be the two characters holding hands looking up at the sky while leaving it up to the audience to decide whether or not the world ends.

Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Hip. Well liked. Both appealing to the opposite sex.

Already in a movie together that would be similar to this.

Every movie Ashton Kutcher has been in is the same. It'd work.

What if you dropped the whole end of the world thing, and made the movie about Ashton Kutcher hooking up with a chick. But then they fall in love, and find out a lot about themselves along the way! That sounds a little less mainstream to me.

Excellent casting choice. I'm assuming Selena Gomez will be your female lead.

You really have an eye for this stuff.

To be honest, it sounds like The Bucket List...just instead of two guys trying to do stuff before they die its one guy trying to do stuff before we all die.

And Kutcher & Heigl already did a movie together and nobody went to see it ("Killers")

Ive never seen the bucket list.

but I was thinking that maybe this dude could have been affected by some traumatic event that happened in the past. Hes been secluded, lost touch with his friends, family, all that junk, he has nothing and no life and he knows this. Since its his last year on earth he wants to change it so he doesnt die with regret and never really tring to "live life" he starts doing things not only for himself but, for others as well.

In the end after 2012 doesnt happen he thinks about previous events throughout the year, soaks up the life, the girl, new found strength, etc, the moment hes in now and he realizes his life isnt over but just beginning. *roll credits*

I have this as a drama.. maybe it would work better in a documentary type style like a reality show type of thing.

I liked Effron in Charlie St Cloud but like Kutcher, wouldnt be a serious choice. Needs a young cast though Id think.

Alright, no Kutcher and Heigl then.

                        Kutcher and Christina Applegate?

NOT OVER YET. What about the supporting cast? Gosling and Hathaway need at least one friend.
