    AMC Developing Goodfellas Series

While a potential Goodfellas TV series has been in the works for over a year, it just took a big step forward, with word that AMC is now the home for the project. Deadline reported the news, revealing that the network behind Mad Men, Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead is developing the TV version of the story of real life mobster Henry Hill.

Nicholas Pileggi, who wrote the movie, is co-writing the TV pilot with Jorge Zamacona (Homicide: Life on the Street), with the two executive producing along with the film's producer, Irwin Winkler and his son, David. The show will be produced by Warner Horizon Television (sister company Warner Bros. made the film).

While it's hard not to be wary whenever a TV show is made based on such a beloved film, Pileggi and Winkler's involvement is at least encouraging – even if director Martin Scorsese is not a part of the project.

The pedigree of the creators is encouraging, but Goodfellas? Really?

Why not Goodfellas? A mob show can have a bunch of different story lines and good characters. See Boardwalk.

The movie is so good, impossible for this to meet expectations.

I'm confident they can make an excellent mob show, but I don't think Goodfellas should be the basis.

            AMC is a little overrated.

2 awful series (Hell of Wheels, The Killing)
1 that started off promising, but is on its way towards awful (Walking Dead)
And then you have BB which is as fantastic as advertised and Mad Men which is solid.

It was an excellent book and as usual there was a lot more to it than in the movie, so it could be good, but I would imagine there would have to be a lot of liberties taken in order to flesh it out longer.

I dont really watch any of em but the general public seems to love em. I never watched Mad Men and after about 1 season or so of BB I was like WTF is this shit. Just so over the top and unbelievable I couldnt continue watching.

You're forgetting Rubicon. AMCs first failed series that made the Killing look like it was on speed.

Fuck this shit, the comparisons to the movie will be inevitable and you will never top the original cast.
