Rider Before the Special Effects are Added

Obviously a film like Ghost Rider and the upcoming Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance utilize a number of special effects in transforming the film's human star, Nicolas Cage, into a raging lunatic biker with a flaming skull for a head who urinates fire. So how do they do it? Do they put Cage in an outfit full of colored dots? Yes. Do they make him wear a helmet full of dots and wires? Definitely. And do they paint his face with the creepiest looking skeleton makeup you've ever seen? Oh you bet they do.
Check out these behind-the-scenes images (courtesy of CineComics) of Cage and his equally-as-insane directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor as they shoot scenes with Cage as Ghost Rider. Don't know about you, but we'd gladly take Cage in this outfit without the effects because ... why not? Dude looks freaky. We've also posted a very cool behind-the-scenes video below the images which shows the maniacal lengths Neveldine and Taylor go to shoot their films. We definitely need this trio to reunite again soon.
