Weird episode. Had a "I'm not sure if the show is going to make it to season 2 or not so let's get the whole cast involved and make crazy things happen" vibe to it. That last scene with Hannah was stupid.
Apparently there was a lot of race-based backlash with the show, so much so that Dunham had to cast Donald Glover for season 2.
HBO's new series "Girls" caused controversy after just one episode ... and it largely came down to race.
Now half-way through Season 1 of "Girls" (Sundays at 10:30 p.m. ET on HBO), the blacklash hasn't stopped. So in the first week of filming "Girls" Season 2, which was announced at the end of April, Lena Dunham -- who produces, directs, writes, stars in and created the series -- seemed to nip the issue in the bud: She was seen filming in New York with "Community" star Donald Glover.

Cause there were no black people in any eps? Least I don't remember there being any. In any case, love me some Donald Glover, aka Dong Lover, aka Childish Gambino.
Season I: 10-6 (NFC North Champions)
Season II: 9-7 (NFC North Champions)
Season III: 13-3 (NFC Champions)
Season IV: 11-5 (NFC North Champions)
Season V: 2-1
They cast the most token black dude they could find. They should have did some shit like casted a stereotypical "looking" black dude to date that dilly, crack smoking chick but have a twist where they find out he is a Rhodes scholar or something along those lines. Casting Troy is typical.
This show is about dorky white people who think they are hip. It shouldn't have any back people in it unless the dorky white people are buying drugs or getting mugged, because dorky white fake hipsters don't encounter black people in real life except in those situations.
Shows about black people don't need to have white people, shows about white people don't need to have black people. I remember when 'Friends' faced similar backlash, and they shoe horned Aisha Tyler into the cast as a David Schwimmer love interest. LOL, ok. Like anybody in that show would ever date a black person. I mean, c'mon.
yo didn't even care that there weren't black regulars on the show. what now they gotta cast an asian & latino too? coming from a black dude, black folk don't need to have a face on EVERYTHING! just b/c the pres is black, we gotta be represented. HI-larious

Agreed but with them casting Troy they went about it casting the most typical character possible.

So what you're saying is that it was black people who gave "ShoSho" crack at the party, and stole Marnie's purse on the train?
Maybe the writers were being smart by not putting a face to their racial profiling.

This post sounds exactly like something I would read in a Bill Simmons article.
