Pete Rock sampled the song, it's music, samples happen all the time. Frank Ocean sampled Hotel California and you damn near praised the man for it. One day you should just stop complaining about everything he does and give something a chance.

Its a classic rap song, and Pete Rock is a bit sensitive to it since its considered one of the best songs ever. But who gives a fuck, since everything now is sampled anyway. Or re-used, or whatever. 2 different songs, Lupe shoulda told him, and Chocolate Boy Wonder needs to get over it.

It's the significance of the beat in particular because of how intimate and important TROY is to him, if Lupe had used any other beat he probably wouldn't have given a shit.
