Trey Songz - Chapter V

I agree. Not a fan of this at all. Like I said back in June, I was concerned after his first 2 singles. Big step back for Trey

My 2nd actual full listen went better than expected. There are quite a few good songs, but overall a subpar addition to his catalogue

Trey Day is solid. I Gotta Make it is still his worst. This is just right above it. I'm sure this will eventually grow on me, but it is quite the step down from what we have grown accustomed to with Trey

Trey Day had some solid songs, but I can't listen to it front to back. I Gotta Make It might be his most soul-orientated album IMO and feel it's very underrated, but his vocal range is limited on it. Still, there are plenty of songs from it that I can listen to often and I feel it falls as a solid third place in his catalog.

I still go back and forth with Ready and Passion, Pain & Pleasure for what his best album is. I usually lean to PPP, but I have a lot of history with Ready and it has my favorite Trey song in Yo Side of the Bed.

For the record, I think Anticipation is his best project period. That stretch of songs from Scratchin' Me Up to Yo Side of the Bed is one of the best I've heard.

I am the complete opposite with you on the I Gotta Make it and Trey Day discussion. I personally can listen to Trey Day front to back with ease. It holds one of my favorite tracks by Trey. Probably 3rd best song of all his albums in We Should Be. Which falls just behind Yo Side of the Bed and Made to Be Together. That is something I can't do with I Gotta Make it. There is a little stretch in Chapter V that I really like. It is the redeeming quality of the album. Anticipation may very well be his best piece of work, but I lean towards his top 2 albums before it.

The album has already grown on me. The stretch of Pretty Girl Lies to Never Again is the stuff we all like about Trey's music. Fumble is today's favorite track. Probably will change tomorrow
