Joesph Gordon Levitt has had an amazing run of movies.

He's not a lead for most movies, he is a very good actor but his look limits what he can do.
You'll never see him win an Oscar or star in a good movie that isn't a love story or a comedy.
He had comparitively small roles in Batman and Inception, I don't even know what 50/50 is, 500 days of summer was an ok movie nothing special, the lookout was another decent movie that nobody is watching twice.
Great actor, who I do like, but he hasn't had any memorable roles and I don't see him having one any time soon.
My favorite role of his is actually the one with Mickey Rourke where he plays a psycho hillbilly - Killshot. Movie was decent, he was great in it because it was different from any other role he's done.Comment

Hes a very well rounded and fundamentally sound actor. He doesn't get by on looks (even though he is a good looking guy) , or a gimmick like most actors.
I agree with what youre saying but dont count out the possibility of some awesome role coming along. His actual advantage is that he hasnt been typecasted yet. For whatever reason he reminds me of Edward Furlong except less drugs and a much better work ethic.Best reason to have a license.

Killshot is awful.
But - what are you talking about? He's usually the lead in movies he excels in - Manic, 50/50, Brick, Mysterious Skin, 500 Days of Summer, The Lookout, Hesher.
He'll be the lead in Looper, a sci-fi action movie from Rian Johnson, director of Brick, The Brothers Bloom and the Fly episode of Breaking Bad.
He makes his directorial debut and is the lead in Don Jon's Addiction - a drama.
He'll be the lead in Premium Rush, which looks like a dumb, turn-your-brain-off, race-against-the-clock, biking-parkour-action movie.

Was it? It wasn't a flop by any means, it was well reviewed and had positive word of mouth and turned a profit. But, it was one of the worst Seth Rogen films in terms of box office and it did have a soft opening weekend (#5).
I saw one description of it as more of an indy flick with big names....don't think it was a hit.

I don't understand why that even matters. JGL is a known actor who excels in every role he's in. His effort in becoming a "box office draw" is at zero, so why judge him based off of it? Judge actors like Ryan Reynolds or Taylor Kitsch for their inability to carry a movie through their popularity, not someone like JGL who hasn't even tried.Comment

OF course Real Steal made more money than 50/50, casual movie goers are fucking retarded.Comment

Im not judging him or putting his career down but Id rather see him in a kick ass version of Terminator as John Connor than Bobby Hopkins recovering alcoholic whos life is filled with hurdles as he tries to reconcile with his drug addict mom and aunt who raised him.
And ugh I just remembered 500 days of summer and what a sniveling little cunt his love interest was.Best reason to have a license.

Box office draw is bullshit. The only actor who has both box office draw and acting chops to go with it is Tom Hanks and he's made shitty movies for the past 10 years. JGL is very obviously an actor who will be fighting for Oscars for the remainder of his career and making fantastic movies to go along with it. The same can't be said for box office draws like Shia Lebeouf.
Also - movie stars don't exist anymore.Comment
