The same can't be said for box office draws like Shia Lebeouf.

Also - movie stars don't exist anymore.
    What on earth ?
Matt Damon , Ed Norton , Robert Downey Jr , Johnny Depp , Brad Pitt , George Clooney , Leonardo Di Caprio off the top of my head.

All have proven capable of headlining a movie , being in a blockbuster , and/or giving an oscar worthy performance.
JGL hasnt proven any of the above let alone fighting for something hes never been nominated for the rest of his career.

50/50 he gave a great performance in...but the movie is snooze worthy. Highly forgettable and a blip on the radar. You can only have good performances in movies noone cares about for so long. Sooner or later you need to draw otherwise youll be passed up for bigger roles.

im sorry...did he win an oscar for any of those films? and those films you mentioned...they are films that may as well be indies. im guessing some were indies. you act like because you think these films are top notch that they are great films...but they just arent. they are good, but nothing oscar worthy

That wasn't the point. The point is that those are some of his very first roles and knocked them out of the park and in time he's only gotten better. To honestly say he can''t win an Oscar is pure bullshit. I'm sorry the only movies you've seen him in are Batman or Inception and you say he cant win an Oscar, yet you don't even see whats hes actually capable of because you haven't watched his best movies, just his most popular.

Did you not understand what he said? All of those actors have just as many bombs as hits. That doesn't make you a movie star with box office draw. A lot of those actors you listed have some movies that past few years that didn't even make 15 million dollars. The closest one you named to being a box office draw is Robert Downey Jr but its not like Iron Man would be bombing at the box office without him. You take a look at his non franchise films and they don't really make anything.

I cannot be the only one who didn't like 500 Days of Summer.

I like JGL, but he isn't a standalone actor. All of his best movies were vehicles for other bigger stars. He does have a bright future, but he isn't a headliner, imo.

The Incredible Hulk was pretty bad. Also, Red Dragon wasn't much, either. Both were pretty big budget movies that didn't perform nearly as well as hoped.

Lol at how butthurt some of you faggots are. I know chicks who don't have as big of a crush on this guy as some of you homos do.

I never insulted his acting, in fact, I said he is a great actor. He has good range, but his look limits what he can do because his on screen presence isn't ever going to overshadow bigger and better actors than him, which there are plenty.

Quit being so fucking butthurt because someone doesn't have the same opinion as you.

Lol @ groaning these posts. JGL can't even get his name spelled right in the thread title and people are groaning that he hasn't won an Oscar.
Buzzman - Nothing said changes the fact he has not been a lead actor in a hit nor been nominated for an Oscar. No actor alive has non stop hits. But JGL has ZERO. Noones downplayed his potential so what on earth is the big deal.

The Incredible Hulk did well enough at the box office (better than expected actually) and critics liked it for the most part. Red Dragon also did very well at the box office and it got similar reviews to the Incredible Hulk.

Matt Damon isn't a box office draw, Jason Bourne is - no Oscar noms except for a shame supporting one for Invictus is telling, too.
Ed Norton is a fantastic actor, but isn't very popular - too many duds.
                                RDJ plays himself in everything.
George Clooney is always George Clooney, too - a toss up, but i'll give you it.
Brad Pitt has a hard time being successful at the box office when he's the lead.
Johnny Depp is a box office draw, but plays obnoxious weirdos in everything, not much range there - he's a hack.
DiCaprio, I can't believe I forgot I'll give you that one, he's the best man, he did it - but people challenge his range, too.

None of the above match the trifecta you mentioned - Carry a movie, successful blockbuster and Oscar credibility.
