Who are some of your favorite comic-book artists? Here's my list -

Recent Faves:
David Aja - Hawkeye is probably my favorite looking book out there, and it's Aja that's done my favorite issues. The layout, the art, it all just screams fun
Emma Rios - thought her art on Dr Strange was gorgeous
Frank Quitely - any team up with Morrison was bound to bring amazing art and great story
Ming Doyle - not sure how Mara is doing, but she draws a great action scene in a very good book
Esad Ribic - the new Thor is luscious.

Other series that I've liked recently, mostly with rotation artists: Avengers (Oneda and Kubert I think), Daredevil (Samnee),

who Do I like?....

Mark Bagley - the definitive Spidey artist of my generation, his take on teenage spidey in USM was what made me give it a chance. A perfect fit for Bendis' talky issues since almost no1 conveys facial emotions through their art like Bagley.
Jock - his take on the Joker was one of the most unsettling that Ive ever seen, his work on The Black Mirror was the best Ive ever seen on a Batman comic.
Joe Madureira - stylized and just fun, I just love it bc its unlike anything ive ever seen and as the Darksiders devs will tell you, its very difficult to match his style
Deodato - the perfect fit for warren ellis' Thunderbolts, dark, moody and his venom scenes remind me why Venom is such an awesome character to draw
Ivan Reis - Now the definitive GL artist, his stuff during Sinestro Corps war was incredibly detailed and epic in scale
Chris Bachalo - I love his paneling, everything just jumps off the screen when he draws it, love what he does so much that Im currently ripping off his style

CBR's Top 75 Superman Stories

Right now Comixology has a sale on Superman for $.99 each, so I picked up a couple I hadn't read. Namely:

"Public Enemies", Superman/Batman 1-6 (I've never read a Superman/Batman book so am intrigued to see how it is. Loeb was top notch in the early 2000s before falling off hard)
Superman: Secret Identity 1-4 (never heard of this one before but it sounds really interesting)
Superman: Red Son 1-3 (read this before but I enjoy it so much I wanted to do it again)
Superman: Secret Origin 1-6

Cost me $15 or so total

"Whats so great about truth, justice, and the American way" is probably my favorite Superman comic and would easily be the best Superman movie because it deals with great villainy, Superman questioning himself, good fights, and best of all, no crutch reliance on either other Kryptonians or kryptonite.

I love Batman and I'm considering starting to collect some of those. The cover art on them look incredible.

It's a good jumping on point for the current Batman series with Zero Year. I'd still recommend going and getting the first 20 issues of Snyder/Capullo's run though too

Nice! I've read them all but the Secret Warriors. I've been browsing around Marvel Unlimited and it came down to that vs. some cosmic marvel. Cosmic won out, but let me know how it is.

Also intrigued on your thoughts on Remender's Punisher. I enjoyed it, but not a huge Punisher fan

All the best Punisher stories are in Punisher Max, most of which are done by Garth Ennis. I'm really beginning to like the guys stuff and have even look at some of his other stuff like Preacher and Crossed (both of which are awesome).

Thor: God of Thunder: The God Butcher and Godbomb were both really good. Loved the three stories.

I read it coming out of Dark Reign, and I really liked it, I stopped at the end of the Hood arc with the List tie in issue....seemed like a good jumping off point considering the radical shift in tone that followed. Was always on the fence about this one but at $30 I couldnt resist, it'll be interesting to see Remenders close to that series.


Ive also heard that the best Punisher stories were in MAX with Ennis, Ive been interested but I just cant stand Steve Dillion's art...Fan of Ennis, never read Preacher but I enjoyed his "The Boys" series

Re: Punisher - I want to read the Ennis stuff, but it's not on Unlimited yet, at least last time I checked. Preacher is an awesome series though

Image Books - I've only been able to pick up a couple in sales/stuff I hadn't read before I left Canada. So that's largely East of West and Manhattan Projects, both of which I like. Sex Criminals will be a must buy trade when I return to Canada, and I've heard nothing but praise for Nowhere Men. Erik Stephenson was the host on the Image panel at Thought Bubble in Leeds and he seemed like a genuinely nice dude

I just read the second volume of the Massive, which is awesome. Highly recommended!

Started Secret Warriors today. I've been finding a bunch of older comics that are missing older pages. Read 65 issues of Ultimate Spider Man before it got too much. Reddit users confirmed it's not just me. Would 'finish' an issue only for the next one to reference something big that wasn't there. Like 5 or so pages missing from a lot of comics. Kind of killed my Thanos read too

Newer stuff doesn't seem to have that problem
