Maybe Disney will release a Star Wars blu ray box set with the theatrical releases for the original trilogy included.

As a huge Star Wars fan, this does hurt to see. I have no hopes for the sequel trilogy, but I'll end up watching all three definitely. Curious to see if they're gonna go the New Jedi Order route..

Disney has done a great job with Marvel. I think Disney can make this work.
The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept.
As he went, he said: "O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom!
If only I had died instead of you
O Absalom, my son, my son!"

I could honestly see them doing something that stands alone (just like sandwiching a new novel between two different series.) The problem is that movies, especially in a deep universe like Star Wars, don't work like that.

If they want to cover to the "defeat" of the Empire, the first movie should be the Thrawn trilogy. It introduces the Alliance as the New Republic, introduces Karrde and Jade, Thrawn and Pellaeon. I just hope they don't deviate from what is there, but I think it will happen.

Disney surprisingly does a good job with the property they buy.

The Star Wars canon has a ridiculous amount of material to base a film series around.

Hamill and Harrison are old enough where they could pull off some things with that for stories post RotJ.

More likely they'll just carry on from where ROTJ left off and cast Shia LeBouf as Luke and Vin Diesel as Han Solo.

Awesome. This is gold. Hit me with a whole remake cast please. I must know who you think will play Leia and Vader.

The sequel might be good seeing how Lucas won't have his grubby fucking hands on it. Hell maybe J.J. Abrams or Joss Whedon will direct.

As a former Star Wars geek, this is a no-lose situation for me. Lucas already ruined everything I wanted Star Wars to be with Epi I, II, and III. Everything has been geared towards little kids during the time I've been alive. Disney can either continue that road and keep it for kids and that does nothing to hurt me. I won't watch any of it, or care, if that is the case.

However, Disney has the ability to do good work. If they do follow through with making Episodes VII, VIII, and IX then they will have the opportunity to make them more like the Pirates movies and have them be PG-13 and watchable by adults. Especially if they follow the Grand Admiral Thrawn trilogy (easily the best work to come out of the Expanded Universe). If they follow that story arc, then they can "save" Star Wars in my eyes.

You lost me at the Pirates movies being watchable.
