I never liked Janis Joplin, and never understood her appeal, but I think she was someone that you had to see perform live. Her live stuff on Youtube is pretty intense...almost so over-the-top its unbelieveable. I think her studio stuff never really did her justice.

I went to the Grace Potter & The Nocturnals show last night at Stubbs in Austin. It was carried live on AXS TV (formerly HDNET) as the concert of the week. The energy of the show was incredible. Grace is as good as Joplin...she just plays more instruments, is hotter and doesn't do smack.
