I fuckin love it, can't wait to see last Sunday's episode. Shame it's just a 9 episode mini series. Strongly recommend it.

      edit

literally just read they decided to come up with a 2nd season, wasn't planned originally, hopefully they keep the quality up.

Are you sure that article about this intended on being a mini series rather then a show is true? I always read that it was a tv show and not a mini series.

I've watched every episode and I've really enjoyed this show. Glad they're doing a second season but I just hope they don't get lazy with it.

I had read on tv.com about it just being a mini series, glad they were wrong.

Just got caught up with the latest episode, another good one.

I watch this show with my girlfriend and her father. Her mother is Danish and her father is Swedish so this show is like a cultural experience in that house. Don't get me wrong - they're born and bred Americans, but they like to celebrate the Swedish heritage so they'll have feasts throughout the year in honor of certain Scandinavian holidays. I have never posted a clear shot of my girlfriend's face, but she's had native Norwegians and Swedes walk up to her and start speaking the language at her and she like "uuuhhhhhhh damn I'm sorry I only know English!" so basically you can look at her and be like "yup, Swedish."

Anyways, since her father is so big about their Scandinavian heritage, he knows all or most of the Viking lore and history, he's read tons of the Norse mythological texts (see: Asatru) and therefore is sort of an authority on the subject even though he's not an actual historian.

Basically, he gets giddy and excited about the show and it definitely passes his standards as far as how closely they are keeping to the actual history. If you didn't know: the show is based on real events. Consider that a spoiler alert if you want to google any of the main characters.

In the post a picture of your pet thread, I posted their puppy. His name is Loki. That's how much these people love Scandinavia.
