My DVR is set. They reeled me in with its cryptic commercials for the past 2 months lol.

I came in 10 minutes late but I dig the show so far.
Since the female American cop has Asperger's, there's always that bent of her not being empathetic and just a little blunt when answering/asking questions...
The bit with her interviewing one of the victim's spouse and her mentioning her mother using drugs out of the blue made a big characterization for me.
This is a woman who does her job well enough to land a big enough homicide case like this BECAUSE she CAN'T/DOESN'T let her feelings get in the way.
The Mexican cop feels real enough in his characterization as well...
He knows he's got a spot on the force because he doesn't ask questions when the REAL bad shit is involved but this particular case grabs him.
What's weird is that his Captain obviously knows something so while he lets the guy sniff around, I suspect there's going to be a showdown later on...
There's even the personal aspect of his son getting caught up in a local gang/cartel through buying a pinner and the Cop knowing it'll only lead to the kid dying or worse.
Sticking the two together will make for an interesting dynamic due to the woman doggedly looking for anything and everything to crack the case but the guy knowing that there's going to be a limit to what they can actually do.Comment

The wife being taken to her husband's old gimp dungeon on their ranch was simultaneously goofy and creepy.
That she never knew about it makes for the characterization of her being spoiled and not truly knowing what the hell was going on under her nose made the scene interesting.
Leaving it up to our imagination as we cut away to our Detective Duo was great as well.Comment

Matthew Lillard's already living up to my preconceived notion of me not liking his character.
The non-bomb scare that locked him into his car was a nice touch.
And the killer leaving his motive let us know that there's more dead bodies that will show up in the future.
A mix of 24 and Se7en there for sure.Comment

Matthew Lillard needs to die.
Diane Kruger needs more Bridget von Hammersmark and less whoever the bitch she played in National Treasure was. She comes off as weird, not somebody with Aspergers. Hopefully she gets into a groove.
Doesn't matter though, Demian Bichir is a fucking boss. He's gon run this town tonight.
Ted Levine was born to play a police captain. Monk, anybody?!Comment

Demian Bichir is the man indeed. Only first ran into him on Weeds and like his acting on that show as well (although I do think that's where the show started to nose dive). I think he's going to be the shows saving grace. Diane Kruger I'm not a fan of as much so far (seems to be the popular opinion), but hoping she'll come around. I'm really curious to see where Annabeth Gish's (Charlotte) character ties in with all this.
Obviously with the illegal trafficking, but it has to go much deeper than that I would think.

This show is kind of all over the place right now and I'm not sure I'm supposed to have any idea what's going on but I'm still pretty into it...
