Spiderman lead wants a gay Peter Parker.

The 29-year-old actor - who is dating co-star Emma Stone, who plays Gwen Stacy in the film - would prefer it if Spider-Man/Peter Parker was into men rather than women and even suggested to producer Matt Tolmach that his on-screen love interest Mary Jane Watson could be a guy.
    Peter is exploring his sexuality?

"It's hardly even groundbreaking! ... So why can't he be gay? Why can't he be into boys?":n6:

Andrew has even placed 'The Wire' actor Michael B. Jordan at the top of his list of possible candidates to play MJ.

He added: "I've been obsessed with Michael B. Jordan since The Wire. He's so charismatic and talented. It'd be even better - we'd have interracial bisexuality!"

Andrew's comments come after Shailene Woodley filmed scenes as MJ for the forthcoming film but she has now been completely cut from the movie.

Speaking about her role being axed recently, she said: "Of course I'm bummed. But I am a firm believer in everything happening for a specific reason.

"Based on the proposed plot, I completely understand the need for holding off on introducing [Mary Jane] until the next film."

Can't be any worse than the fact that the comics made Spider Man a black/hispanic teenager for a period of time

I don't think it would be that big of a deal. The Spider-Man origin is already retardedly played out, let's mix it up a little bit. I wouldn't mind.

Fair point. How much more can you ruin something that's already been ruined?

The gays are so trendy & cool, let's just make everybody gay. So edgy & post modern. Straight people are so boring.

That's what I was thinking, it's Spiderman who cares?

On the other hand though I can't picture any studio throwing out hundreds of millions of dollars to make a gay interracial superhero movie and realistically think that it will turn a profit.

It's stupid, because Spiderman isn't gay.

Just like Shaft isn't white, James Bond isn't a broad, and Sherlock Holmes isn't Irish.

Stuff like this isn't forward thinking or refreshing, it's just trying too hard.

It would totally work for Robin to be gay. JGL should plow some man ass in the next Batman movie.

Eh, Spider-Man isn't gay in his 5,000 origin stories but he also has 5,000, insanely different origin stories (female, racial, just stupid, etc...) as opposed to those other characters.

I am not arguing for the forward thinking angle...I'm just arguing for the "this shit is already dull anyway, what harm can it do?" angle.

As a further thought (channeling my inner W2B): I guess I just don't get these comic movies or re-origin stories that just want to keep telling the same fucking thing over and over again. Wow, so Peter Parker is a dipshit and he indirectly gets his uncle killed. Bruce Wayne is a sociopath that uses his parents as a reason to be a sociopath. Clark Kent is a manbitch that could be God but he's too busy trying to be Jesus. This can go on and on, but the point is, I love comic books too, but I'm sorry, I would rather see something a little unconventional if given the opportunity rather than "here is the somewhat clever spin on the Batman mythos that we came up with (spoiler, his parents still die and he broods a lot)."

Granted, going gay is anything unconventional at this point, but it is at least when it comes to this fictional character that already dresses up in a skin tight outfit that actual people would only wear in a fetish club.
