The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

Early reviews sound promising for the 2nd chapter in The Hobbit trilogy. Where the first movie seemed to drag on a bit for no good reason, this one appears to have picked up the pace. Anybody checking it out this weekend?

I've seen every LotR installment on opening weekend. Don't see how this one will be any different.

I'll have to wait due to finals, but I didn't see the Hobbit: AUJ in theaters and I regret that. I'll definitely try to go see this one on a big screen.

Probably not this weekend, but sometime in the next couple of weeks. Excited to see it.

Gandalf was hamming it up quite a bit, but he deserves to. Legolas was murdering every Orc he laid his eyes on. And the whole scene where they were in the barrels in the river was EPIC as well.

Legolas looked weird/different. could also tell when they went with the lesser quality cameras in the water. but still liked the movie

Even as someone who has read Tolkein, I gave up on these films about half way through Return of the King...and that was 10 years ago. Hard grasping that people are still watching these movies.
