I saw it too, it was tremendous. I think the most jarring part was watching the entire thing and then at the very end it goes through the real photos of some of the soldiers who lost their lives. I loved it.

Just watched this, it's easily one of the best war movies I've ever seen. I was captivated throughout, and pretty much an emotional wreck by the time the credits were about to roll and you see the photos of the real men and their families.

Didn't read the book and went in pretty blind...

 

Never heard anything as quiet as when the soldier (his name escapes me atm) takes the fatal shot to the head when he's leaning against the tree. Just total silence. Nothing. It was eerie.

Same with once the movie ended. Nobody said a word exiting the theater. Pretty stunned silence. Never seen anything like that before.

Interesting how they cast mark whalberg for this when the soldier is actually like 6'4" but whatever.

The book was amazing and they absolutely did it justice with the movie. I balled my eyes out. Amazing experience.

Great movie and I hate to be that guy but the book was much better because you got so much more backstory and character detail. I'm pretty sure the last battle scene didn't actually happen, too.

It's a real easy read for anyone interested.
