All that time I spent on the TD subreddit breaking down symbols and finding Easter eggs for nothing!

What was the blue portal thingy he was looking at before getting stabbed? Just a hallucination?

You gave up too early. It did start a bit slow, but it picked up a lot of steam to the end.

I for one loved the ending, can see how some would be a bit disappointed in it though since it was pretty soft at the end.. but to me that last scene with Rust finally opening up was f'n perfect.

Yeah I should clarify that I loved the ending for Rust and Marty but not how the case was handled. They could've done a lot more and it wasn't a very satisfying resolution.

I'm with you.. paint by numbers cop drama in the long run.

Perfectly executed, but a lot of the things on the internet being put together about what was going on with this story were never close to panning out. A bit anticlimactic for sure IMO.

Paint by numbers is a bit harsh. That's reserved for CBS level fare. On the other hand, Nic P did work on the shitfest that was THE KILLING which you so faithfully stuck with so maybe you're right. You'd know paint by numbers procedurals better than I.

So just because reddit dweebs wasted an endless amount of their time looking for shit that wasn't there it was anti-climactic? Judge the show for what it was, not for what the internet mooks wanted it to be.

                          Lol some maximum rustle here.

The Killing was awful, and nowhere on the level of this show I just referred to as "perfectly executed" so go open a window and calm the fuck down.

And I'm saying all the shit about Carcosa and all the matching symbolism throughout the series turned out to not really mean a whole hell of a lot in the end. You can blame the dweebs on Reddit (the subreddit YOU introduced me to one day while your mind was blowing over it) but that stuff wasn't in there by mistake.

For it to be a red herring and not actually part of the main story was a bit of a letdown for me, sorry.

Forgive me for thinking "paint by numbers" and "perfectly executed" are contradictory. True Detective is one of the best police procedurals you'll ever see. It elevated itself above the genre, IMO.

                              On another note...

I'm ready to start handing out Emmys for some of the camera work last night.

The first shot of Rust emerging in those greenery covered catacombs or whatever they were was beautiful, maybe the most beautiful shot I've seen on TV.

And the guy who shot the finger banging scene.. he deserves at least an Emmy for holding that shot as long as he did. Personally I think he should be getting a call from President Obama thanking him for his bravery.

                                So fucking creepy and disturbing.
