I love live shows, that is how I get into bands most of the time.

Two of my favorite live shows have been Big D and the Kids Table a few years back and Bleed the Dream a few years back right before their drummer died..a sick show and I still feel deaf from being in front of the speakers all show.

        Nothing can beat live music.

They still have never come to Western Canada (that I have seen), so deal with it

They'll be back, looks like the Black Holes and Revelations tour, quick jaunt through the big places in the States and Europe before doing a full blown tour after the first couple of singles are out - the last tour went on for 2 years preety much non stop.

Chances are they won't be here in NZ until the end of it all, unless they do the BDO again.

Saw Holly Golightly and The Brokeoffs again on Wednesday.

In my opinion this new material that Holly is doing with the Brokeoffs (or Dave as he's better known) is the best stuff she's ever done. The last 2 and a half albums hardly ever leave my turntable these days.

Can't wait for the next one.

Read my review of the No Doubt show | 6/13/09 Pittsburgh, PA

Rush told me to post this here so I am

I copy and pasted this from another forum I post at

                My Review:

My Aunt and I showed up way to late and only caught the last two songs of The Sounds. Paramore definitely had a ton of fans there and their performance was impressive. First time I heard any of their music besides their Twilight video. I got one comment about the forum shirt. Really wish I had pit tickets so I could of met some forumers (pandakb I saw you holding your sign after UIA). No Doubt comes on and the place erupts. I had reserved seats and hopped/sung lyrics in my one place during Spiderwebs & Hella Good and was out of breath haha. Thank god UIA was next. Congrats to Matt Weyl for getting on stage and getting another picture with Gwen. I saw you holding your picture from the HL Tour also, that was so sweet.

So after Ex-GF Gwen says "were going to play a new song" and I lost it when they played DJ’s (Bradleyyyyyyyyyy), I swung my arms in the air and punched the guy in front of me on accident haha, felt like I was the only one that knew the lyrics too. I hope another show gets this treat, My favorite performance on LITTK and I got to see them play it live. Gwen got the crowd into SKOL and it was great hearing her sing it. I totally snanked to Guns of Naravone, great great song to dance to and it would be my dream to get on stage and dance with Tom, Tony, Gabe & Stephen during this. When Running came on I couldn't hold my tears in. I cried with my Aunt because we went to this show in remembrance for my cousin Monika, may she rest in peace. She was the person that got me into No Doubt during TK and she was a Gwenabee herself. Wish you were here girl.

Different People was the crowd pick-er-up-er and really enjoyed hopping with the rest of the crowd. Don't Speak comes on but it was a tad bit windy for my lighter to stay lit, boo. I really enjoyed IML live also. JAG was probably the crowd favorite. The boys in Pittsburgh were weak though when Gwen told us to say I'm just a girl. So on comes the encore (everyone is chanting Let's Get Back!) Adrian & Stephen come out in Crosby & Malkin jerseys, I called that from a mile away . S & D performance is to fun live. Last but not least they finish off with my all time favorite Sunday Morning and I nearly sprained my ankle hopping to it, I leave the show sweaty, dehydrated and a experience I will never forget. I am determined to relive this experience so I am getting tickets to Clevland on the 29th and possibly flying out to Glendale, CA in late July to visit family and try to score tickets to a So Cal show. I can't thank No Doubt enough for a wonderful time. Pure Sublime =]

I sit here @ 6 am and the sun is coming up so I'm blaring Sunday Morning I picked up the tour poster (orange with a piece bitten off), tour booklet, stickers and wristband.

Future of the Left tonight. Can't wait.

It gets a bit dry then until November when I'll be seeing The Specials, The Damned, Girlschool, Motorhead and Daniel Johnston all in less than two weeks.

Might pop along to see CJ Ramone in August as well and with new albums soon out there remains a chance that I might get to see Blyth Power, El May, Lullabye Arkestra and/or Devo (again) before I turn 32.

                  Sounds like fun.

Last concert for me was in May (Memphis in May music festival). I saw...

Theory of a Deadman - Second time I've seen them in concert. They are pretty good. They are an extraordinary band, but they are good and put on a good live show.

311 - Gods. Everything sounded perfect. They can pull all their shit off live. It was awesome.

Fall Out Boy - As expected, they absolutely sucked live. Horrible. I wouldn't recommend. They can't play their instruments worth a shit.

Never mentioned my last show (I think). Went to the Von Bondies w/ the Racoons and some other band. Racoons were a suprise from Victoria and the Von Bondies were great live. You can tell they learned from the Detroit Garage rock scene. A lot of fun.

                      Next shows-

Possibly the Decemberists at Folk Fest
Aug 13 - Kings of Leon w/ Guests
Aug 15 - Silversun Pickups w/ Manchester Orchestra and someone else

Not that anyone cares about my No Doubt fanboyism, but I saw them again in Cleveland Monday and was blown away again. I actually met up with some people from their forum and had a great time. I even got my pit ticket signed by Gwen Stefani and Tony Kanal

The Opener, Bedouin Sound Clash (a reggae group out of Toronto I believe) were great. I listened to some of their music before the show and really enjoyed their set even though it was short.

Seeing Paramore for the 2nd time sucked. Like after the 3rd song their sound just like morphed into one. Hayley and the guys put on a show but the music doesn't appeal to me much.

If I'm in PA in August I might check out Blink182 in Pittsburgh

Only caught the tail end of the Badamps set, but they sounded alright. The Hot Toddies were pretty blah... and that's probably being very nice. If they weren't sort of cute, and I wasn't busy two fisting it, I would''ve been better off spending it outside chain smoking during their set.

The Manfields played a sweet mix of snotty Ramones inspired punk with obvious Cramps / Johhny Thunders and the Heartbreakers sounds as well as mixing in some surf and more traditional rock and rockabilly stylings. To say they were diverse is an understatement. I'd see them again.

The Queers were awesome. The sound pretty much blew, but Joe King played pretty much everything off of their first two awesome abums and mixed in some of their earlier, trashier, torrid trash rock classics like "Kicked out of the Webbelos", "This Place Sucks", and "I Want Cunt". I'm very glad to have finally seen this band that I swilled many brews to back in the mid 90's.

Lahey, I'm assuming your going to the Seattle MMB show on the 12th. Do you or anyone you know that is going to that show will take pics (of the show and tour merch), record vids, get the setlist of the show? It's been over 10 years I think since the last time I saw them and wish I could but I dont have the funds to travel that much. Have fun at the show.

Ok, cool man, I appreciate any feedback you can post. I believe it was 98 when I saw them twice in Erie & London. London, Ontario not England. I was real young then but that's when Lets Face It came out.
