I wasn't full-on entertained about the Evolution episode (although the genesis of how the eyeball came to be was fascinating).

    This week though?

They managed to make gravity and interstellar calculation interesting as fuck to me.

Also, seeing Issac Newton's saltiness towards Cooke boil over into him allegedly burning Cooke's portrait at the Royal Society was a hoot.

    Can't wait until next week.

Have only watched one...the eyeball stuff was great.
This weeks ep seems dedicated to trashing religion. I dont understand why its taking shots at religion was the original like that ? I watched too many eons ago to recall.

As much as I don't care to be involved in an anti-theist circle jerk, I do have to say that I'm horrified by the notion that my first pick for grad school has a young-earth creationist as its president.

lol How did you find this out ? I fee your religious beliefs should be kept to yourself unless its on topic. If you're known for your religious belief in professional circles its a little weird.

So far, a fantastic update to Sagan's super awesome original back in the 80's. Perfect guy in NdGT to host this thing.

Loving how they are intertwining human history with all of the other topics discussed. A true web of influences.

A+ stuff so far, really well done.

Marked out hard for the evolution episode.

Well, actually I was told this by a friend (one of my best friends, going to theology school for his Master's right now), so I can't say for sure that it's true or that the guy is still running the show.

The school is 7th Day Adventist, so they pour on the Christianity pretty heavy. I'll have to take a religious class or two there before I complete any degree. Also, I'll have to keep my god damn mouth shut pretty much constantly. Luckily for me, I have shown the ability to schmooze Christian authority figures well enough to keep my head.

If you're interested, this is the school: http://www.llu.edu

One of the top medical schools in the state, if not the country. Also, one of only 12 schools in the US with an accredited Masters' in Radiology for Rad Assist. program (basically a PA, but only for Radiology). Luckily for me, the MSRS program is part-time online only, so I could eat hamburgers while doing homework and no one would care

Good stuff man. Good luck with it seriously.

Just watched this weeks , loved it. Love the story of Halley. Newtons revenge is funny. Didnt realize Seth Mcfarlane was an ex producer. I actually wasn't too crazy about the animation but this episode the decision made alot of sense.
I just love how these guys are mapping the stars but still have time for crazy shit like diving bells.

Loved the sentimentality of the last episode.

Love the way this series intertwines real human history with the topics being discussed. Can't say that enough.

Gonna have to watch it later with Game of Thrones returning but I'm really interested in tonight's episode. Focusing on an Arabian scientist living in North Africa during the Golden Age of Islam. You know he's gonna have it rough...

I was surprised by how open and welcoming that society used to be.The last few minutes almost put me to sleep but the episode was really good overall as theyve all been thus far IMO.

It's weird thinking about the nature of some of this stuff.

Atoms for example. They don't seem to exist for any rhyme or reason but they do. They weren't put here for us to discover, and we weren't made to discover them but against all odds we did. Like Lawrence Krauss said, we evolved to escape lions and tigers in Africa, not do to Quantum mechanics. Yet we've grab hold and taken notice of all this stuff we weren't supposed to. Peeking at the man behind the curtain and seeing things that nothing has ever seen before. Understanding things that were never supposed to be understood.

All of this is very unnatural and weird. Reality is an odd....place?
