I still need to see American Sniper, The Theory of Everything, and Whiplash but none of the best picture nominees blew me away. All good to great films, but nothing spectacular.

I thought Boyhood was overrated. Good movie and obviously impressively done but I took nothing away from the movie other than how cool of an idea it was and how well it was executed.

I thought Birdman was great and probably my favorite movie of the bunch and one that has replay value. The Imitation Game a close second. Selma was very powerful and beautifully done as well.

Surprised but happy to see the grand Budapest hotel get nominated. Fun, creative, well acted and interestingly done. One of my favorite movies of the year.

Any other year I think they would give it to Selma but since 12 years a slave won it last year I think they will give it to Boyhood or the imitation game and im leaning towards them picking Boyhood because the ideas never been done before and none of the other movies blew you away.

The Theory of Everything is a solid movie but I'm not sure it is going to win best picture. I found out after watching it that one of my old friends that moved to LA is married to one of the producers. Going to see American Sniper tonight at the first showing here in town. Good to hear you liked Birdman, I am big Michael Keaton fan and it looks really interesting. Agreed on Selma, the timing makes it hard to see it winning picture of the year even though it is really good.

Michael Keaton should win best actor. I can see Cumberbatch winning it as well but Keaton was awesome in Birdman in what featured some of the longest tracking scenes I've seen in a film.
