Ortiz Scuffling, Puts Red Sox in Tough Position

Bill Simmons ran a great article...talking about how it's a very legit possibility that Ortiz could have been lying about his age the entire time, and it really shouldn't suprise anyone if he's 35-37 instead of 33. It's not like everyone from the Dominican Republic has really been legit

after reading it i think he is alot older than what he says he is, alot of athletes that are Dominicans have done it. i knew a few guys on my High School team that lied about there age

thats bs. it's been done before it can be again trust me. there's been plenty of times when a player just needs a new enviroment to turn things around. look at sabathia and manny last year. sabathia was doing not so great with the indians and gave a cy young campaign with the brewers. with the indians he was 6-8 with an over 3 era and went 11-2 with an under 2 era with the brewers. and manny was probably playing crappy with the soxx on purpose but you can get the jist of it. ortiz is doing way worse then these two guys but GM's have made wackier moves before.

Ortiz doesnt compare to Sabathia. Sabathia was just coming off of a Cy Young season so teams knew he can pitch and his numbers werent all that bad. Ortiz on the other hand is coming off two straight seasons where he has been injured and is playing like pure crap right now. Manny was playing like crap (well actually just lied about injuries and didnt play) in his final days in Boston to get out and there were little offers for him. The Red Sox even had to trade away 2 young players and pay some of Mannys contract just to get him out. With all that being said I dont think Ortiz will be traded this year because 1. His contract, 2. The Red Sox wont get anything in return.

The only place Ortiz could be traded at this point is MLB 2k9.

I think the minor leaguer who was traded for like 18 bats last year was worth more than Ortiz now.

at this point I think the only thing left to do is pout him on the DL and have him go through some "rehab" in the minors...would they be allowed to do that though?

Ortiz reminds me of Brett Boone. Dude lost tons of weight, and his swing with it. Ironically, it was the time that testing for roids began.

No they can't. He's making 12.5 million this year and next year with a team option for 2011. No one's going to trade for 25 million dollars worth of uselessness.

I don't see Ortiz wanting to be in Boston anymore...atleast after his buddy Manny left...seeing those two together was some funny shit...

Ortiz and Manny were buddies. When Manny had his little fiasco last year and the front office went to the team vets asking what they should do with Manny, Ortiz said that he should be traded.
