    2009 Trade Deadline Thread

figured i'd start this up as the deadline is under a week away. Going to try to keep all of the rumors/trades that go down starting monday in this thread so if anyone has to look back on something, they will be posted in the first post.

I'll just start out, who do you guys seeing get Halladay?

Nobody from the looks of it. Yankees haven't even called once, and the Phillies latest offer was rejected.

Didn't sound like Jays were too fond of the Phillies farm system either.

The Phillies were the ones who were being rumored as the favorites to get him & they just got declined.

If Halladay doesn't get traded by next week's deadline his stock will fall & he'll go for less in 2010. Great job Ricciardi.

Who says the Jays can't compete next season?

I don't blame them at all for asking for "all or nothing" from the Phillies (or anyone else).

ESPN used to have a page where they would show all of the trades that have taken place, and break them down.

I can't find it this year. It's usually up by mid July.

Anyone know what i'm talking about?

No one is saying anything about the Jays not being contenders; On the other hand they would not be able to resign Halladay after next season.

With that being said - the Jays will be offered less for Halladay come Trade Deadline next year & if they decide to keep him for the entire 2010 season so be it, then they'll get dick.

There's one on RealGM. It's not as good as the old ESPN one.

                Coming soon...

A Phillies scout is watching Cliff Lee throw today, and the Blue Jays have a scout watching Dominic Brown today. By Friday I still believe that one of these pitchers will be in Philadelphia.

The Dodgers and Indians are in serious discussions about a blockbuster that would send left-hander Cliff Lee and catcher Victor Martinez to Los Angeles for first baseman James Loney, one of the Dodgers' young starting pitchers and prospects, according to major-league sources.

Know exactly what you're talking about, I always thought it was Insder only, but I know they did a write up of the McLouth trade. Maybe look up his player profile?

A Dodgers executive said today that there is “less than zero” truth to rumored discussions that had the team sending a package centered on first baseman James Loney to Cleveland in exchange for left-hander Cliff Lee and first baseman-catcher Victor Martinez.

                          This is from Gammons:

•When inquiring about Roy Halladay, the Yankees were told the price was Phil Hughes plus prospects Austin Jackson and Jesus Montero.

Glad nothing's been done on this.

Heyman reported that the Jays just requested Joba, Hughes and "two others". Yanks reported back that they'd consider giving up Joba, but not both.

An interesting note today from WEEI...maybe the Red Sox don't target Victor Martinez but in turn pick up Johnny Peralta. I don't like Peralta but he's another bat in the line up.

He'll definitely be an upgrade from Lowrie; who's your current SS if i'm not mistaken.

Plus, He's a pretty decent hitting SS & the BoSox hitters will provide the protection he lacks in Cleveland which just means good things for you and bad for me.
