The 50 Best of the MLB - The Ranting Never Stops!!

You say you are ranking them on who is the best right now but then you put guys who seem like they are on a decline in Soriano and Vlad and put them in the top 20. I could see them in the top 50 but I wouldnt have them in the top 20. I also think you have Oswalt too high. I like Oswalt but there are some pitchers behind him or that are not even on the list that I would rather give the ball too right now. -
Originally posted by DET ClutchThere are a ton of guys stuffing the boxscores in 5 different categories, there not even on that list.
Verlander, Jackson, Washburn, Lester, Kershaw, Billingsley, Vasquez, Jurrjens, Lee, all those guys are having MUCH better years than Oswalt. Thats just off the top of my head.Comment

+Rep or Thanks, whatever, for the work.
Besides player choices, etc., I think my main issue is with the time frame. You talk about not using stats for just this year, but rank Zack Greinke in the top 50 based off of this year.
And even as a huge Youk fan, you really can't rank Youk higher than Cabrera. Youk is a much better player defensively than Cabrera, yes, but offensively Miggy is FAR superior. Between 2006-2009, Miggy has a batting average that is 21 points higher, a 1 point higher OBP, and just 6 more strikeouts than Youk, plus the obvious higher home run stats.Comment

Originally posted by DET ClutchThis list is just messed up. You said "the best right know", But all your reasonings are filled with career numbers, and those same players arent even having that great of years. You're contradicting yourself.Comment

more pitcher should be on the list, and ranked higher
Mo is one of the most dominant players in baseball, but there is one problem that forces him this low: he is a closer. As good as he is, he pitches an inning or two a night, and that simply isn't as valuable as a guy who plays everyday.

I think this list is pathetic.
Leave it up to me to make teh best list of all time.Originally posted by Leftwich 2-14-2009I wasn't comparing myself to Wildcard. I honestly don't think I could compare myself to God.

I think Jermaine Dye and Bobby Abreu would have been solid choices had this list been from 2006. Dye has become a total liability in the field, yet your commentary praises his defensive skills.
Zambrano on the list over guys like Verlander, Beckett, Sabathia, etc. is ridiculous. Your inclusion of Soriano at #17 overall is ghastly, and your slotting Manny Ramirez BELOW Soriano is mind-numbing.
I hate Derek Jeter and think he's somewhat overrated, but I'm sure most people would prefer Jeter to half the players you have on your list.Comment

I like were McCann is at. He is a great player and is overlooked in top players in the league talks.

If McCann is that high then Victor Martinez should at least be on the list. There Career totals are almost identical and there numbers this year are almost identical except Martinez has more Homeruns and RBI's.Comment
