History has shown that pretty much everything Lefty34 said was wrong...not that we needed the historical perspective to know this, but its reassuring nonetheless.
Team Winning =/= Derek Jeter is good at defense. The retardedness of your logic there is bordering on unfathomable.
Wow I never saw this thread the first time. While I agree with Lefty's overall point that Jeter is a terrible defensive SS and Yankees fans are largely morons ... this sentence construction is hilarious.
THEY are the ones that reviewed every baseball hit to Derek Jeter (and many others) over a long period of time, and unless you have done something very similar, I don't think you are in a position to challenge their expertise.
This guy was just a terrible orator and debater. No getting around it.
I think we can both agree that Football stats and Baseball stats are different.
I don't necessarily agree that baseball fielding is objective yet just saying what he's referring to. Not really defending him either. We won't have objective fielding stats until Field f/X gets released to the public.

Field F/X will never hit the public I am afraid. I'll do my best to keep you guys in the loop though, since my dept. of MLB owns the R&D rights for it.
I'd take Jeter over any shortstop (not named Cal Ripken Jr.) that I've had the pleasure of watching during my lifetime. He's got 3 gold gloves and his range really isn't as bad as people make it out to be (mainly because everyone who doesn't love the Yankees hates the Yankees).
You could say that he would have been better suited as a center fielder, but then he may have had to spend more seasons playing AAA because of Bernie (when Jeter came up as a SS, Bernie was just breaking out as a great CF) and you don't know what would've happened to his career because of that.
