Just read through the entire thread.

    Lefty is an idiot.

    at calling fielding metrics "objective".

History has shown that pretty much everything Lefty34 said was wrong...not that we needed the historical perspective to know this, but its reassuring nonetheless.

Wow I never saw this thread the first time. While I agree with Lefty's overall point that Jeter is a terrible defensive SS and Yankees fans are largely morons ... this sentence construction is hilarious.

THEY are the ones that reviewed every baseball hit to Derek Jeter (and many others) over a long period of time, and unless you have done something very similar, I don't think you are in a position to challenge their expertise.

This guy was just a terrible orator and debater. No getting around it.

Is he talking about John Dewan and Baseball Info Solutions +/-? if so they do review every hit.

            Just saying.

Thats nice. And Football Outsiders reviews every NFL play.

              Just saying.

I think we can both agree that Football stats and Baseball stats are different.

I don't necessarily agree that baseball fielding is objective yet just saying what he's referring to. Not really defending him either. We won't have objective fielding stats until Field f/X gets released to the public.

I'm not even convinced field f/x will solve the problem really.

It will go a real long way. It's still more of an immeasurable science but at least we can track footwork and positioning a lot better.

Field F/X will never hit the public I am afraid. I'll do my best to keep you guys in the loop though, since my dept. of MLB owns the R&D rights for it.

                        Well that's cute you dick.

I can see it being under lock and key, why should plebeians like us get it when it can be sold exclusively to teams?

Not sure if it's a matter of cost or logistics, but the amount of raw data will be so huge that it will be pretty difficult to manage.

Thanked for finding a logical way to use plebeians on VSN.

                            Bob Backlund approves.

And how could I forgot the complete asinine Lefty.

He's got 3 gold gloves and his range really isn't as bad as people make it out to be (mainly because everyone who doesn't love the Yankees hates the Yankees).

You could say that he would have been better suited as a center fielder, but then he may have had to spend more seasons playing AAA because of Bernie (when Jeter came up as a SS, Bernie was just breaking out as a great CF) and you don't know what would've happened to his career because of that.
I'd take Arod over Jeter at SS all day, any day.
