The worst are the Philly fans that seem to think that him saying that was an indication that he wanted Philly to lose. Say what you will about Hamels not being a "fit" in a blue collar sports town, but this guy shows heart day in and day out, especially this season when his stuff just wasn't working. I love this city, but man, we can be tough. This man pretty much carried us to our first WS victory in 28 years. Plus he pitched more innings than he ever had (Verducci effect anyone?). I'm willing to give him a pass this year.
All of that said though, if this goes to 7, I'm sorry. Game 7 of the WS against a lineup like the Yankees is not the time to seek redemption.Comment

Yeah...it's just what happens. Notice you never see the questions asked these guys, just the statement, and that's plastered EVERYWHERE. I love being on fucking TWITTER and seeing updates with just that line it as if that's some sort of credible source. It was dumb to say, but he had just been ass-raped and was asked what he thought of his pitching in this season as a whole, and he answered probably a little too truthfully.

Gotta get through Game 6 first, though.Comment

Anyone see that stat Fox put up in the 2nd or 3rd inning, where since the 1999 World Series pitchers pitching on full rest are like 25 games over .500 vs. pitchers going on 3 days rest. It's funny because all you heard about was how good Burnett's and Sabathia's record are on short rest, but how many of those starts are in November pitching in the biggest game of their life? Don't get me wrong, the Yankees are still securly in the driver's seat in this series. But if Pedro can find away to pitch like he did in game 2, I don't see Pettite matching it. If you're a Yankees fan, you better hope for a ton of offense tomorrow night.Comment

Funny how the Philly fans are chirping a bit more after that one. Amazing how much confidence a win delivers.
Noticed that about your homefield too. Got quiet a bunch of times last night at any sign of a threat.
I think sending Pettitte tomorrow is a mistake.

Oh and as far as the homefield: at least Phils fans stay for the games even in defeat. Game 1 Yankee stadium was barren.Last edited by SethMode; 11-03-2009, 12:55 PM.Comment

LOL -- the hell you talking about. The same group of people are in this thread every day. Win or lose. Phillie fans and Yankee fans.Comment

Why are you guys arguing with a moronic Cowboys fan, who has the Cowboy and the Giants QB in his sig? And apparently is rooting for the Yankees.

Well Giradi made the 3 days rest bed, so now he's gotta lay in it.....
And who would you rather he send out there against that nasty line up, a fucked in the mind Chamberlain, Ace or Chaudin?
I'll take Pettite for 300 Alex.Last edited by DJ Rhude; 11-03-2009, 06:46 PM.Comment

Oh come on...that's what always happened. You don't see Maddog in here saying stupid things, do you? And I hardly think any of us here are "chirping". We were talking just as much yesterday, if not more so. And that was after one of the most crushing endings in a while.

Really my point was more towards the confidence 1 win delivers in a postseason series. Yank fans (well, the bad ones) were hysterical after Game 1.
In all honesty wouldn't be surprised to see it go 7, though I hope not.
edit: You're absolutely right about the Yankee Stadium comment. Frauds.Last edited by Rayman; 11-03-2009, 09:05 PM.
