I'm sorry, but how was taking steroids cheating? There wasn't a rule against it.

If your going to complain because they were illegal, you have to kick out any baseball player who drank in the 20s (bye bye Ruth).

Otherwise what is he being punished for?

I really could care less that McGwire or any of those guys took steroids.

If someone came to me tomorrow and said "Dave, your skills aren't bad ... with steroids, you could make $20 million a year."

Stick the needle up my butt.

McGwire, Clemens and all those fags did what they had to do to get paid.

Without steroids, McGwire is an injury-prone washout whose career never would have lasted until that HR record.

Without steroids, Clemens flames out in Toronto ... he was clearly done after Boston.

I am not necessarily saying what they did was right, but they did it to get paid ... it hurt no one but themselves, a few baseball stat geeks and some kids who really needed different heroes anyway.

Steroids were added to the banned substance list by MLB in 1991.

-Did not remember any specific names of what steroids he did.

-Never told anyone of his use, not even his wife, father or LaRussa.

-Admitted to using HGH once and never again.

-Said he used steroids b/c of his injuries and to get back on the field.

Somehow, I think he's either lying, honesty does not remember or convinced himself of what he thinks the truth is.
McGwire came off as an idiot in that interview.

Yea there were. They were banned in 1991 by MLB and were illegal under US law after 1990.

This whole mess makes you appreciate Junior Griffey even more. It's a shame his body betrayed him - he would have put all these cats to shame.

Harder to get away with it.

That said - no, I wouldn't do it. Couldn't live with myself.

But news is more important than sports.

              McGwire didn't hurt anyone.

Same deal with that Milli Vannilli thing - who did it hurt? If someone offered you millions to pretend you're singing songs because you're a pretty boy, wouldn't you?

Reporting that a prominent politician is gay based on three made-up sources could hurt his or her life.

                This is a silly statement.

Increasing muscle mass/strength = quicker recovery.

The roid users hurt all the players who remained clean. Roid users prolonged their careers and took roster spots away from the clean guys.

Not to mention, all the dumbass kids who see their sports heroes as drug freaks and may have sampled the stuff.

I suppose, but most of these roid guys were already taking roster spots anyway ... and the fans loved seeing these freakish HR numbers.

As for the dumbass kids, like Charles Barkley said - it's not his job to raise your kid.

Guess that's why you shouldn't get your information (what was and wasn't banned in the MLB) without doing a little more research.

Oh well, kick em out then.

I found it hilarious when Canseco looked into the ESPN cameras and told Mark that there's no crying in Baseball. :guns:

I believe Canseco 100%. He really has nothing to lose or gain. McGwire is still lying about a ton of shit.

Yes. I love McGwire's logic of first claiming that steroids did not help him set the single-season HR record...and then saying that he called Roger Maris' family to apologize. Uh, if steroids were not a factor in him hitting all those HRs, what exactly would he be apologizing for?

Also what are you crying about then?

Why is there so much shame if they really didn't "help" you.
