Damon still wants to join Braves, who still don’t need him control+ATL+delete

McLouth's numbers will be equal if not better than Damon's this year, guaranteed.

<------READY FOR BASEBALL.....Excited for the Braves this year, but sad to see Bobby go. Some say he's old fashioned and stuck in his ways, but regardless, he's a hell of a manager.

          Francoeur on Heyward control+ATL+delete

MLB -- Buster Olney -- Atlanta's Jason Heyward need not look far for advice on how to handle the phenom storm - ESPN

As everyone in Braves nation (okay, region) anticipates the Jason Heyward show, a former local phenom provides some insight on what he’ll experience in Buster Olney’s latest piece. “Frenchy” tells Olney of the pressure that will be heaped upon Heyward, and of the endlesss appearance requests he’ll be expected to honor.

“Jason will find out this spring that if he tries to do everything — if he tries to do every interview — he will be there until 4 or 5 o’clock every day. And if he goes to the big leagues and gets off to a great start, the same thing will continue to happen.”

Olney notes that much of the same buildup associated with Francoeur is happening again, pointing to the Paul Bundy tall tales surrounding J-Hey’s batting practice debut. The bottom line is that Heyward’s makeup and plate discipline at 20 is far beyond where Jeff’s was at that age, and possibly even now. The most impressive thing about Heyward’s minor league performance last season was his 1:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio (he had 51 of each). In Francoeur’s final season in AA, he struck out 76 times with just 26 walks. Not bashing Frenchy, just noting that Heyward is a completely different player, one who is more equipped to handle the instant local stardom.

Also mentioned in the Olney piece was Andruw Jones (25 lbs. lighter) the self-proclaimed best center-fielder in White Sox camp. It’s good to see AJ has reduced the waistband, but it’s still debatable if he’ll hit his weight unless he cuts down on the Ks like he has the carbs. But enough of the negativity, let’s look back on a happier time for AJ fans.

Kept a running diary of the game, but only after I found the other channel it was on as it was blacked out on MLB Network for me.

Ya I was watching MLB network and saw it.

This dude is awesome can't wait till the Rox play the Braves!

I was thinking the other day between him McCutchen and Carlos Gonzales (LF & CF) the NL is going to be fun to watch.

I really hope the Braves put it together this year, so they can shut up Philly fans... Personally I really like what they are doin over there and will be rooting for th Braves to win the NL East.

What number you guys think J-Hey will wear? My money's on 22. I speculate on the possibilities here:

Did you guys watch the MLB TV "30 clubs in 30 days" the other day, it was on the Braves. I like this team more and more to push the Phillies again. I like the team they put together especially the pitching.

The top two baseball prospects are going head to head tonight for the first time ever. JHey has been on fire since returning from the DL. We need to send Chavez down and bring Kimbrel back up, Chavez has sucked all year except for one appearance where he went a few innings. Who do you guys think we'll get before the trade deadline, are yall on the Cody Ross bandwagon or do yall want someone else?

I almost found a way to go to this game. I've been back and forth between the Baltimore area and NY (4 hour drive) for the past 2 weeks. I just got back to NY yesterday after making the drive 4 times in 10 days.

I tried to plan the trip so I'd be able to go to DC for tonight's game, but I bogged down with other uncontrollable logistics. Oh well, looking forward to watching it.

Braves, Ross agree to two-year extension

The Braves reached agreement on a two-year contract extension with backup catcher David Ross, a club source confirmed to MLB.com on Tuesday. The value of the deal is not yet known.

Ross, 33, is making $1.6 million in the final season of a two-year, $3 million deal and was eligible to become a free agent after this season. He will now be under contract through 2012.

First-string catcher Brian McCann is also signed through 2012, with a club option for 2013.

Ross is batting .269 with 18 RBIs in 35 games (21 starts) this season, his second with the Braves and ninth in the Major Leagues.
I'm glad we have him, he's way better than Corky Miller and Brayan Peña. I can't believe Corky Miller is on a MLB roster...

See if you guys can post the opening day starting lineup since 1989. Click here to do it. I got 98/198, I couldn't remember anyone, I typed in "Smith" hoping I'd get some since it's a common last name. Don't cheat, tell us what you really got.
