    Tigers' Inge breaks hand

DETROIT -- Detroit Tigers third baseman Brandon Inge left Monday night's game against Texas after having his left hand broken by a pitch from Scott Feldman in the third inning.

Inge stayed in the game after being examined by Detroit's training staff, but was replaced in the field by Don Kelly for the top of the fifth.

X-rays showed a non-displaced fracture of his fifth metacarpal. He is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.

Huge loss for the Tigers, they need to go trade for a 3B really quickly

Obviously he was there for defense, and worth it for that alone. As long as Kelly can keep it up we will be fine. If anything id say they should just go for broke instead of falling farther behind in the standings and bring in another bat to play 1st or 3rd. Miggy can go back to 3rd if need be.

Cabrera cant play 3rd, its the main reason he plays 1st. Inge is overrated defensively. Don Kelly is our best defensive player.

IMO Cabrera was a decent 3rd basemen and was moved for two reasons, they love Inge at 3rd and our first baseman (Sean fucking Casey) was no longer with the team. We didnt have a 1st baseman on the roster. Id be willing to bet he has played more games at 3rd than 1st.

Its painful to see them losing games like this, constantly stranding baserunners.
