Two questions for Chicago baseball fans

Looking for the Chicago perspective on two guys - Lou Piniella & Ken Williams.

How do Cubs fans look at Lou? Was he viewed as a success, who did a good job but ended up with a team that got old all at once? Or is he blamed for the last two years? Does he leave town in a positive or negative light?

Ken Williams. I see him as ultra aggressive, meaning he will always miss as much as he hits. Not afraid to go after the big name. Do White Sox fans lkike him? Is he safe and secure because he delivered a WS, or is that buffer zone gone since it was 5 years ago?

Can't really answer the Cubs perspective, but I can give you the Kenny Williams side.

Kenny as you said is always aggressive, he keeps his team largely in contention every single year. He's really hurt the farm system via the trades, but as GM of the White Sox to keep people coming to the stadium you have to be competitive.

As far as his job security I think it's pretty good. It should be better than Ozzie Guillen's, but it's not, however overall I think he has decent security not only because of the WS, but that his teams as I said largely are always competitive.

Personally, I love the way he works. I would love to see him operate under a different manager and actually be able to put together the team he wants, and not Ozzie Guillen's dream world of an American League team in the easiest HR hitting park playing "play for 1 run" National League ball.

Carlos Zambrano is definitely the best pitcher to ever grace Chicago and Soriano narrowly beat out Lance "One-Dog" Johnson for the CF spot.

You have to look at the "total body of work". Sax was a big name who didn't really produce...Noce's total body of work is much stronger, IMO.

Lou was more of a success than I had originally thought. When he was first hired, I thought that Pinella was just looking for a way to ease into retirement. But I think he did a pretty good job using the hand that was dealt to him. The Cubs were never really able to get a lead-off hitter, a RF, or a closer, and I think these ongoing problems held the Cubs back.

I don't think Pinella ever stood up to the morons on the Cubs, like Zambrano and Soriano, but maybe those two guys will always be problem players since they have guaranteed long-term contracts.

I don't blame Pinella for the last two years. And I definitely had zero expectations coming into this season. The Cubs just aren't very good.
