    Ichiro 200 Hit Record

Great job for Ichiro but Felix still lost a 1-0 game.

    200 Hit Record

Only man in baseball to do it 10 consecutive years and only Rose did it in a career.

I think this is an incredible accomplishment that no one is taking note of. You basically have to play every game in 10 straight years to even have the opportunity to get 200 hits every season, and to be able to hit well enough to get 200 hits for 10 straight years is remarkable.

I don't watch much baseball but Ichiro always struck me as extremely underrated because he doesnt hit a lot of home runs. Silliness.

The more remarkable thing is that he's only played 10 years in the MLB and needs less than 800 hits for 3000.

To put that in perspective, Derek Jeter who's played for 16 years and is no slouch still has not reached 3000 hits.

At Ichiro's current pace he will get 3000 hits in the middle of his 14th season.

BTW Pete Rose got his 3000th hit in his 17th season.

Saw this game and was wondering why everyone was clapping when it happened. It was too bad they lost the game. I kept seeing their "We Believe" commercial...what do they believe in?

sidenote: I believe no Yankee (played entire career as Yank) has 3000 hits, that is hard to believe.

I heard that when he eventually gets into the HOF they'll add in his Japanese numbers as well

It would be crazy to imagine what he would have done if he had spent his entire career in MLB.

He has a skill set that will allow him to age well, too. He keeps in great shape, slaps at the ball, and has no injury history.

I don't think its that hard to believe. From the time of Babe Ruth, the Yankees have always been about acquiring current players. If you look at the 3000-hit list, you have a lot of guys who were Yankees for part of their career (Henderson, Winfield, Boggs, Waner), but they all started out on other teams. Jeter is very close to 3000, too.

Mantle was always hurt, Berra was a C, Gehrig lost the last 5 or so years of his career, Mattingly hurt his back and declined young. A lot of the career Yankees (Berra's 3 or so games with the Mets notwithstanding) were victims of circumstance. Jeter is a lock, unless he dies or has a catastrophic injury.

yeah without his disease, Gehrig would have undoubtedly reached 3000 hits, and obviously Jeter will.

Really wonder how many hits he would have if he came to the MLB sooner.

It's hard to find players who played their entire career with just one team.
